Lesson 8 Don’t Change God’s Word The Bible must be our final and absolute authority. Memory Verse 2 Timothy 3:16–17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. Definitions False Prophets people who want to make up their own false religions Deuteronomy 18:20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. Class Notes 1) False prophets do not speak True God’s words. 2) God doesn’t mind false prophets. False Deuteronomy 18:21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? Deuteronomy 18:22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. Class Notes 3) A true prophet of God will be right every True time. Class Notes 4) Gospel means “good news.” True Galatians 1:8–9 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Class Notes 5) God will bless those who preach a false gospel. False 6) The true gospel is about Jesus— only.
