Supreme Climb
Supreme Climb
Genesis 22:1-3
Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
2 He said, “Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.”
3 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son; and he split wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.
The Supreme Climb
The Supreme Climb
Here we find, God devised a plan to test Abraham’s faith.
God’s command is this - “Take now your son, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering”.
How great is this sacrifice? To know the gravity of this sacrifice, we must know the importance of the offering
Take now your son - Abraham loved his son Isaac so much - he prayed and waited many many years for God to give him Isaac, and now God is demanding him to give Isaac back to him.
Take now - not later when you are ready….sometimes we debate with God and try to justify and find excuses not to obey at once when God demands sacrifice from us.
we say, not now Lord, I am busy, I have a lot of things to do…maybe next month…maybe next year…when I am available and ready….
When God says climb….we should climb…Look at the response of Abraham in verse 3
So Abraham rose early in the morning…..and arose and went to the place of which God had told him…
Here we find the humble response of Abraham. He did not reasoned and gave excuses to God.
I believed, that even before the they have climb Mount Moriah and actually performed the offering…Abraham already felt the weight as If he has climbed a mountain higher than Mount Moriah twice or more….
When we start giving excuses with God based on our feelings, and limited insights - these will compete and hinder our obedience to God.
Abraham obeyed…and His obedience is based on his personal relationship with God - not on his feelings nor insights.
If Abraham loves Isaac— he knew, God loves Isaac more! For Isaac came from God.
Think about this…
Abraham did not choose the sacrifice - it was God. So be careful and guard yourself against self-chosen service for God. we say - Lord, I can sacrifice these things, but not this or that…I can serve if and when….sometimes we give conditions before we serve and obey God…
If the divine providence of God is for you to go hard time of difficulty, go through it….
Let us learn from Jesus…
The divine provided of God for Jesus is to go die on the cross for our salvation - Jesus went through it- without objection, but with gladness. He did not enjoy hanging on the cross- but he went through it to bring about God’s beautiful and higher purpose - the salvation of sinners like you and me.
“If God has made your cup sweet, drink it with grace; if He has made it bitter, drink it in communion with Him.
Oswald Chambers
Remember, in your difficulty, God is working for the good of those who love Him!
Let us pray….
