The Book of Life and the Book of the Living
There is a book called “book of the living” but they’re not the same
also translated “book of life”
notice - the psalmist calls for God to do something against the wicked
what is addressed here is natural life, not eternal life or existence
Moses’ conversation with God when Israel sinned at Mt Sinai
The same event is recounted by Moses in the book of Deuteronomy
This “blotting out of a name” is a metaphor for killing the person
a warning against those who commit sin in their hearts
God’s promise to wipe out Amalek under heaven
What’s the Point?
this “book of life” is the record of everyone who lives or comes to existence on earth at any given time.
the names of all 7 billion plus humans alive today are written in God’s book of the living
but this has nothing to do with eternal life
when God says, “i will blot you out of My book” -
it is not dying by natural causes
God is saying, “I will kill you!”

The “book of life” that speaks of eternal life is mostly referred to in the New Testament.

The Book of Life is the record of the citizens (dwellers) of heaven (just as the book of the living is a record of earth-dwellers)
before Paul spoke of his fellow workers that their names are in the Book of Life, he first made mention of their “citizenship”
heaven is especially prepared exclusively for its citizens!

TO HAVE YOUR NAME WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE MEANS YOU ARE A CITIZEN OF HEAVEN
HEAVEN (GOD’S RULE) HAS JURISDICTION OVER YOUR LIFE - AND THE DEVIL HAS NONE!
YOU HAVE THE PROTECTION OF HEAVEN IN YOUR LIFE!
Jesus is saying - I give you power because that’s what you are supposed to be as citizens of heaven!
Note - it does not mean that Judas Iscariot’s name was in the Book of Life!
in another parable - Jesus said to the same etype of people - “I never knew you”
YOU ARE A CITIZEN OF HEAVEN BY ELECTION
not by your own intention or desire - but God’s
not when you gave your life to Jesus - but BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD
YOUR CITIZENSHIP IN HEAVEN IS A PUBLIC RECORD
“registered” - APOGRAPHO, enrolled in the public records; this alludes to Rome’s practice of making public the records of those who are officially “Roman citizens”
It is supposed to be - but GOD SEALED THE BOOK IN SUCH A WAY THAT ONLY THE OVERCOME CAN LOOSE ITS SEAL!
the 7-sealed book - the book of redemption - is the same Book of Life, or the Lamb’s Book of Life!
it is the record of God’s people - the ones that needed redemption
GOD SEALED YOUR NAME IN THE BOOK SO THAT THE DEVIL CANNOT DESTROY HIS PEOPLE
IT REMAINS SEALED IN HEAVEN UNTIL REDEMPTION IS COMPLETE - THAT IS, GOD’S PEOPLE ARE SEALED ON EARTH WITH HIS HOLY SPIRIT!
TODAY, THE BOOK OF REDEMPTION IS IN CHRIST’S HANDS
IT IS OPEN
ANYONE CAN SEE THE RECORDS,
EVEN SATAN CAN LOOK INTO THE RECORDS, BUT HE CANNOT TOUCH YOU ANYMORE - BECAUSE YOU ARE NOW SEALED ON EARTH!
The Book of Life and the Names written in It
So how do I know whether my name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life or not?
You receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, which is the SEAL OF YOUR INHERITANCE!
why would God ‘seal” anyone that does not need security or the guarantee of salvation?
on the other hand, if you are one of God’s people who name is written in the book of life before the foundation of the world, heaven is OBLIGATED TO PROTECT YOU!
Your life reflects God’s intended purpose when He wrote your name in the Book of Life
your life will demonstrate strength and gain victory
you are an OVERCOMER!
you will not bow down to Antichrist power and influence
