A quick reminder

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit; born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried. He descended into Hell; The third day he Rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven and sitteth on the right had of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the Holy Christian Church, the Communion of Saint’s; The Forgiveness of sins; the Resurrection of the Body; and life everlasting. Amen.
Today we are going to dig into that first sentence.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.

Word Pictures

The Father

Isaiah 6:1–3 CSB
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a high and lofty throne, and the hem of his robe filled the temple. Seraphim were standing above him; they each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. And one called to another: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Armies; his glory fills the whole earth.

The Father

When we read about God being Almighty we need to have as clear a picture as possible
(explain what i used to think of when i thought of God.)
When we read what Isaiah is saying we begin to get an idea of just how powerful God is. (expound on the power from the armies and the glory filling the earth)
But more than being Almighty more than being Holly and worthy of our praise we also see something else important…The truth found in this scripture*
Genesis 1:1 CSB
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The Genesis account of creation tells us that God Made all that is. He is the creator and sustainer of life.
We read the days of creation. I want to pause at one of the in particular though
Genesis 1:26–27 CSB
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness. They will rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, the whole earth, and the creatures that crawl on the earth.” So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female.

The Father

(drill down a bit here)
God creates us in His image, the King James says His likeness wanna know what god “looks like” just look at your neighbor. God gave humans a mandate to care for creation and he knew it was goig to be too much for one indvidual or one type of individual so he created men and women. (humerous)

The Son

John 1:1–5 CSB
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. In him was life, and that life was the light of men. That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it.

The Son

Here’s the thing. (talk about Jesus being the word and what that means)
The importance of this being true and what it means for our hope.
