Introduction:

Certainly the principle stands that a just government roots out the evils of society. Why not speak on that matter more often? They aren’t listening to me, but you are. We live under another King.

God knows my heart better than any king could know those in his kingdom.

27 The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, Searching all the inward parts of the belly.

I do not want our King to see me drunk and I do this by not drinking nor needing to drink.

1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: And whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Alcohol has made a fool out of many men.

What I know. The Bible teaches against drunkeness.

What I believe to be true. Almost all forms of common alcohol today would be considered strong drink.

What I plan to live out and encourage other to live out. You won’t be drunk if you don’t drink.

Unlike other areas of life where you must be involved with something but are told to have in moderation alcohol is nothing that is needed in my life.

I do not want our King to see me being easily provoked because I know my anger can be destructive.

2 The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: Whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.

Because of the power a king has over his people it is unwise to anger them. He has real power over you.

I have influence upon my kids and I should respond in a loving manner to them.

I do not want our King to see me meddling where I should not meddle.

Proverbs 20:3 (KJV 1900)

3 It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: But every fool will be meddling.

Being a busy body is right there with murdered and thief. It is evil.

1 Peter 4:15 (KJV 1900)

15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.

Our words should add value to conversations and life.

15 There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: But the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

Human teachers are commissioned to take God's revelation and give the sense so others can understand it. Nehemiah 8:8 “So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.”

We should be on the the look out for people who speak peace and God’s Word. Romans 15:14 “14 And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.”

I do not want the King hear me making lame excuses for the responsibilities He has given me.

4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; Therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

The lazy will have to eventually work. You can only procrastinate so long.

When it is time to plant we should be planting. Time to study, study.

I do not want the King seeing me covering my lack of integrity by writing my own press releases.

Who I am comes out from the conversations I have.

There is no hiding who we really are over time.

People aren’t just listening to us they are watching us.

12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, The Lord hath made even both of them.

I do not want our King seeing me using unfair business practices.

We should not be deceptive in our dealings with others

We should be careful of smooth talkers.

17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; But afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

Who ate the monkey bread? We did. Laughter then misery.

Make sure you are wise and careful when working with people who make risky investments.

16 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: And take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

If they were foolish enough to be surety for a stranger, they should be regarded as a credit risk.

We should treat people fairly by always giving honest information to them.

23 Divers weights are an abomination unto the Lord; And a false balance is not good.

I do not want our King to see me sleeping when I should be awake nor do I want Him to find me awake when I should be sleeping.

11 Even a child is known by his doings, Whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

I do not want God to see me avoiding wise counsel because I cannot recognize my limitations.

18 Every purpose is established by counsel: And with good advice make war.

I do not want our King seeing me keeping a tale bearer in business.

19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: Therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

I do not want the King to see my dishonoring my parents.

I do not want the King see me mismanaging His unexpected blessings in my life.

I do not want the King seeing me usurping His authority and seeking my own revenge.

I do not want the King to see me acting as if it I was in our control outside of His guidance.

I do not want the King to hear of me making rash and foolish vows that I cannot pay.

I want the King to see me using my youth and strength to serve Him while in my youth.

I want the King to see me contributing to the work of the Kingdom by growing in wisdom as my physical strength declines

As we saw at the start the inwards parts of the belly represented my “Be Level”

We all should want to live in a way that pleases the King. But the day I meet Him I will not tell Him of what I have done but I will take Him for his mercy.

Many can say what this proverb says, but none with real humility and integrity.

Our wise King knows what is good and bad. He knows what to reward.

The King and only the King really knows the life I am living.

The motivating power of grace is missing. Take a look at five people printing Bibles on the same assembly line. Mr. Dollar is asking, “How can I make more money?” Mrs. Ambitious is asking, “How can I get that promotion?” Mr. Pleaser is asking, “How can I make my boss happy?” Mr. Selfish is asking, “How can I get personal satisfaction in my job?” They all look and feel miserable. Then we bump into Mrs. Grace, who’s asking, “In view of God’s amazing grace to me in Christ, how can I serve God and others here?” - David Murray
