HOW DO I LIGHTEN MY LOAD?
TEXT: Matthew 11:28-30

1. COME TO CHRIST-Vs. 28

A. He Knows-vs. 27

Psalm 139:23 KJV 1900
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts:
Psalm 44:21 KJV 1900
21 Shall not God search this out? For he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
Job 28:23 KJV 1900
23 God understandeth the way thereof, And he knoweth the place thereof.

B. He Cares

1 Peter 5:6–9 KJV 1900
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
Psalm 55:22 KJV 1900
22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

C. He is Strong

Ephesians 1:19–20 KJV 1900
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Isaiah 40:29–30 KJV 1900
29 He giveth power to the faint; And to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall:

2. GIVE UP CONTROL-vs. 29, 30

A. A YOKE IS A SYMBOL OF PARTNERSHIP

Psalm 55:22 KJV 1900
22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Philippians 2:5 KJV 1900
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Exodus 33:14 KJV 1900
14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

B. A YOKE IS A SYMBOL OF SUBMISSION OR SURRENDER

James 4:6–10 KJV 1900
6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Galatians 5:25 KJV 1900
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

C. When I'm "yoked" with Christ, we move together in the same DIRECTION and at the same PACE.

1 Peter 2:21 KJV 1900
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
1 John 2:6 KJV 1900
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

3. LEARN TO TRUST-vs. 29—“Learn of me”

Jeremiah 17:7 KJV 1900
7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

A. Causes of Stress and God's Antidote

Psalm 18:35 KJV 1900
35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: And thy right hand hath holden me up, And thy gentleness hath made me great.
James 3:17 KJV 1900
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Pride- HUMILITY
Matthew 18:4 KJV 1900
4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
