Who you love, you will serve!
Matt 6:24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
William Borden - No reserve, no retreat, no regrets http://home.snu.edu/~hculbert/regret.htm

Remember God’s Faithfulness (1-13)

The Lord God has been faithful to you and to me, just as He was to the nation of Israel.
If we fail to remember what the Lord has done for us we will fail to pass on our faith to our children.
God Called Them (3-4)
Abraham’s family were idol worshippers that lived on the other side of the Euphrates River. God called him out of his idolatry into true worship, and out of his country into a good land.
God has called you and I. John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”
God Delivered Them (5-7)
He took Israel out of their bondage to Egypt and delivered them from their slavery.
He has delivered us from the bondage of sin (Romans 6)
God Led Them (7b-8a)
He led them through the wilderness and provided for their needs.
God Fought For Them (8b-12)
He fought their battles for them. He was a shield and defender.
God Gave Them the Land (13)
He gave them a cities, gardens, orchards and lands that they did not labor for. He has promised us a land built by His own hand.

Respond to God’s Call (14-24)

A time for choosing (14-18)
Joshua - as for my house we will serve the Lord.
He also live in a day when it is time for choosing. Will you serve God or man? Will you trust God or government to provide for your needs? Will you seek God’s wisdom or your own understanding?
A time for cleansing (19-24)
The issue is the heart, Joshua said they could not obey because he knew how easy it was to promise obedience, but then to disobey. He knew their past faults.
The only way they could really serve the Lord would be to love Him.
Joshua 23:11 “11 Be very careful, therefore, to love the Lord your God.”
Who you love, you will serve!
