Romans 5-5-17
Central Point of the Sermon: Because Jesus is the head of the table and has given us a seat at the table we are call and commanded to invite others to the table.
Question: What do we need to remember as we invite people to the table?

Remember the solution for salvation (vs. 5-10).

vs.5-9 speaks to the false doctrine about salvation that many Jews held: which was works of the law is what makes one righteous before God.
No! Abraham believed God
Genesis 15:6 ESV
And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness.
Romans 4:3 ESV
For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”
The religious folks made salvation hard to understand. There is a reason many use the Romans road of salvation to point people to Christ. People don’t need to know what supralapsarianism means in order to come to Christ!
We must remember the solution for salvation is the savior! Look at verse 9.
vs. 9 has a conditional clause in it “if” we “confess.”
Cleon Rodgers said, “This word confess as a judicial term, the word indicates the binding and public declaration which settles a relationship with legal force.
It is in the aorist tense which suggest action that occured in the past but has future results.
Confessing Jesus as Lord means is to say he is King of my life.
Jesus is either Lord of all or he’s not Lord at all!
CS. Lewis said, “Jesus is either Lord, Liar, or Lunatic.”
He is right if Jesus is lying he’s the biggest looney tune to walk the face of this earth.
C.E.B. Cranfield said, “The confession that Jesus is Lord meant the acknowledge that Jesus shares the name and the nature, the holiness, the authority, power majesty, and eternity of the one and only true God. there is expressed in addition the sense of His ownership of those who acknowledge Him and of their consciousness of being His property.”

2. Remember the scope of those who need salvation (vs. 11-13).

I’m not here to debate arminianism and calvinism.
Spurgeon said, “If God would have painted a yellow stripe on the backs of the elect I would go around lifting shirts. But since He didn’t I must preach “whosoever will” and when “whatsoever” believes I know that he is one of the elect.”
In our culture today you are either conservative or liberal. You are either “Woke” or not woke.
I tell you we need to wake up to the fact that there is no distinction between Jew or Greek. Slave or free. God has broken down the wall of hostility. We need to wake up to the lostness in neighborhood, in this nation, and the nations.
In the evangelical world today CRT is the debate.
When someone ask me about CRT I say yes I’m a proponent of CRT.
Christ Returning Tomorrow and I must be about my fathers business.
Martin Llyod Jones said, “ It doesn't matter who you are. It doesn't matter what race you belong to or what color you are. Nothing matters at all. because there is nothing that is of any value. You do not bring your race, your family, your name, your circumcision, your good works or your morality. If you bring anything you are not saved.”

3. Remember to live sent with the message of salvation (vs. 14-16).

Many preachers are building their own platform for promotion and praise. It’s not about the precious blood of the lamb.
We should not hoard our salvation but herald it. vs. 14.
John 14:6: Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
1 Corinthians15:3-4: For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
