Character Matters

Within the church their should be a downward flow of information

But it should be the right packages of information—coming from the right people

Titus was to be teaching these character traits to the various groups

Things in accord with sound doctrine

Character of the Older Men

Sober-minded—thinking not clouded by wine (my paraphrase)

Dignified—speaks for itself, not clowns

Sound (that thought of healthy again) in

faith

love—specifically, agape love

steadfastness

Character of the Older Women

Three areas in which a woman with older children may have time to get sloppy in their behaviors

Should be practicing mentoring of younger women—the young moms

Character of the Younger Generation

Men—be self-controlled

Women—focus on home and family

Character of Titus

Be the model

If the older folks model themselves after Titus; the younger folks after the older folks, all should be well

Character of Bond-servants

Note—doulos…slave

Submissive, hard working, honest
