and “one God” (Mal. 2:10) is achad, “to unify,” “collect,” “be united in one,” “one in number.” It is used as “one in unity” many times: “they shall be one flesh” (Gen. 2:24); “the people is one” (Gen. 11:6). The Greek word for “one” in “one Lord” and “one God” in Mk. 12:29, 32 is heis, “to gather together in one” (Jn. 11:52) and “to be one in unity” (Jn. 10:30; 17:11, 21–23; 1 Jn. 5:7–8).
