A Story We Skipped

David finds favor and not favor with Saul

right after the anointing in the book but before the story of Goliath

An alternate introduction? something that happens later? coincidence?

after the battle and explaining a little bit the “harmful spirit”

he becomes closer and closer to Saul for a brief moment

David and Jonathan

around the same time

teenage boys with similarly strange circumstances of the Lord’s strength

they from a covenant- they become brothers by law

David is by law technically in the royal family

From the bottom of Society to the top by a horn of oil and a perfectly thrown rock

David and Saul

nothing good lasts

Saul could see what was happening and it angered him greatly

the people love David, his family loves David, God loves David

the thoughts that can creep into your head can be extremely dangerous

You almost feel bad for him until you realize Saul put himself in this position

Application

this lesson is not from David but from Saul

whats really easy is to look at everything bad going on in your life and say man it stinks that everything is going their way and not mine

You can even blame God for the circumstance but what are you doing to be the one whom God’s will is working for?

wallowing in self pity has never gotten anyone closer to God and in fact it only shows how much more you are concerned with yourself
