I. God’s Word Lives.

1. Its author is the living God.

2. The living God is the God of truth.

3. The God of truth inspired Scripture.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2TI 3:16-17)

4. The spirit of truth interprets Scripture, JOH 16:13-14.

II. God’s Word Acts.

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

III. God’s Word Penetrates.

“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” (PSA 119:11)
“Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.” (HEB 4:1-2)

IV. God’s word Illuminates.

1. It is a searchlight.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.” (PSA 139:23-24)

2. It is a spotlight.

“The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether. They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them Thy servant is warned; In keeping them there is great reward. Who can discern his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults. Also keep back Thy servant from presumptuous sins;” (PSA 119:9-13)

3. It is a floodlight.

“Thy word is a lamp to my feet, And a light to my path.” (PSA 119:105)
