11 Give us this day our daily bread,
There is a direct link between God specifically saying this phrase and
4 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not.
5 On the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather daily.”
It is ok to pray for daily natural provision
16 This is what the Lord has commanded: ‘Gather of it, each one of you, as much as he can eat. You shall each take an omer, according to the number of the persons that each of you has in his tent.’ ”
17 And the people of Israel did so. They gathered, some more, some less.
18 But when they measured it with an omer, whoever gathered much had nothing left over, and whoever gathered little had no lack. Each of them gathered as much as he could eat.
The battle we engage in is when we try to gather more than we need. God told Israel to gateher a day’s portion. So if to people are in your family your portion would be less than a family of 8. Everyone had as much as they could eat.
God provided for them daily and if they tried to gather too much it became infested with maggots. We cannot spend tomorrow’s provision today. God wants to provide what we need every day
34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Do not worry about tomorrow.
13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
Interesting enough the word ahead is a greek word
Emprosthen
Which means in the presence of/ right in front of your face.
it is an immediately daily need. So we are straining for the next 24 hours.
Pray for daily Spiritual Provision
4 But he answered, “It is written, “ ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
Notice the reference of bread here in a spiritual context.
This is a direct refrence to
3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Give me a daily word from your mouth.
God wants to provide for your spiritual provision as well as your physical.
