WE EXIST TO HELP PEOPLE KNOW JESUS AND FIND PURPOSE
One of the most anxious moments — When someone calls and says “I HAVE A FAVOR TO ASK...” or “CAN YOU HELP ME WITH SOMETHING?”
no one has ever woke up thinking “I hope i get to help someone move today”
MOST AREAS OF LIFE WE WANT TO KNOW THE OUTCOME BEFORE WE COMITT — CAN YOU IMAGE GOING OUT TO EAT AND THE MENU WAS JUST PRICES — YOU PAY THEY PICK — THE MOVIES — CAR DEALERSHIP — VACATION — MARRIAGE
GOD’S MIRACULOUS PROVISION AND LIFE TO THE FULLEST ARE FOUND ON THE OTHER SIDE OF YOUR YES
YOUR YES HAS POWER
In the Bible God calls someone to something — follow me [ABRAHAM] — then after the YES God does what only He can do. — AFTER HE SAID YES — MOSES / EGYPT / RED SEA
IF WE WANT TO SEE GOD MOVE IN OUR LIVES IT CALLS FOR US BEING WILLING TO SAY YES
IS THERE SOMETHING I KNOW GOD’S BEEN ASKING ME TO DO?
WHEN IS THE LAST TIME I ASKED GOD “IS THERE ANYTHING YOU’D LIKE ME TO SAY YES TO?”
THESE TWO QUESTIONS COULD CHANGE A LOT IN YOUR LIFE
PETER — RIGHT NOW HE’S SIMON — LIFE FEELS DISAPPOINTING — HE’S BEEN FISHING AND CAUGHT NOTHING
1 One day as Jesus was preaching on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the word of God. 2 He noticed two empty boats at the water’s edge, for the fishermen had left them and were washing their nets. 3 Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there. 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” 5 “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” 6 And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! 7 A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat, and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking. 8 When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m such a sinful man.” 9 For he was awestruck by the number of fish they had caught, as were the others with him. 10 His partners, James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were also amazed. Jesus replied to Simon, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!” 11 And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus.
PETER HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SAY YES… BECAUSE HE WAS LISTENING — ARE YOU LISTENING? — IS GOD HAVING TO SHOUT? OR CAN HIS WISPER GET YOUR ATTENTION?
10 MIN PRAY // WORSHIP — 10 MIN BIBLE
CONSISTENT TIME WITH GOD = DISCERNMENT
PRAYING FOR STAPLES CASHIER
WALK INTO EVERY ROOM — EVERY SITUATION — GOD SENT ME HERE
THEY EXPERIENCED THESE, BECAUSE THEY SAID YES!
ABRAHAM — MOSES — JOSHUA — DISCIPLES — PETER
THE MOST DANGEROUS ATTITUDE WE COULD EVER ADOPT IS ONE WHERE WE THINK GOD OWES US FOR FOLLOWING HIM
7 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. 8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
BLESSED — PROVIDED FOR — FEARLESS — AT PEACE — PURPOSEFUL — PRODUCTIVE
YOU’RE GONNA NEED THESE YES MOMENTS TO KEEP YOU GOING THROUGH THAT DROUGHT — THROUGH THE HEAT — THROUGH THE TRIAL
OFTEN TIMES CHURCH DOESN’T MAKE SENSE — IT WONT — DON’T LET “IT MAKES NO SENSE” KEEP YOU FROM DOING IT
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.
DO I WANT A GOD WHO JUST MAKES SENSE TO ME? OR ONE THAT CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE?
PENTECOST — AMAZING EVENT — WHAT ABOUT THE NIGHT OF PENTECOST?
