Read: Isaiah 43:18-19
Read: Isaiah 43:18-19
Isa 43:18-19 “18 Remember ye not the former things, Neither consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing; Now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, And rivers in the desert.”
God likes to do new things. I know that He can do the same thing over and over again but the Bible talks about new things God wants to do - here are some of the new things God wants to do in our lives:
Gives us new song (Ps. 40:3 “3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.”
A New name (Isa. 62:2 “2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, And all kings thy glory: And thou shalt be called by a new name, Which the mouth of the Lord shall name.”
A New Covenant (Jer. 31:31 “31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, That I will make a new covenant With the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:”
A New Spirit (Ezek. 11:19 “19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:”
A New heart (Ezek. 36:26 “26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”
In Christ we are a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17 “17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
A new birth (1 Peter 1:3 “3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,”
A new self (Eph. 4:23-24 “23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
He will create new heavens and a new earth (Isa. 65:17 “17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: And the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.”
He will ultimately make all things new (Rev. 21:5 “5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”
We are not to live in the past, but rather see ourselves as a new creation , created by God with a new heart and a new spirit. (pg. 50)
