“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Jeremiah 29:11 KJV
“God has not changed mind”
Introduction
My brother Ms sisters. We are living in a day and age where it seems as though nothing is consistent. We are living in a day and age when it seems as though everything is constantly changing.
We have changed the way we have church, we have changed the way we communicate. Every year the model of the make of your car changes. People change. And last Sunday we find that not only does everything changes with time, but even time changes according to the season it’s in. If it’s fall we fall back. If it’s spring we spring forward.
My brothers and sisters that last why you have to be careful of those who come in your life for a season. Because after their season is over they will change and move on to the next.
My brothers and sisters even in living in a changing world. That’s why the Bible says trust in the lord with all thine heart and lean not your own understanding.Because even we can change our mind at times. One thing we must be sure of is That God has not changed.
Hebrews declares that he is the same yesterday today and forever more.
Not only does God not change we declare that his word has not changed. He declares in his word in Matthew that heaven and earth shall pass away but my word will remain. Because God has not changed we declare that the thoughts that he thinks of us has not changed.
The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11 for I know the thoughts that I think of you. Thought la if peace and not of evil. To give you an expected in. My brothers and sisters we must understand that God thinks of us. Not only does he thinks of us but he thinks positively about us.
Isn’t it wonderful to know that even with everything that’s going on in my life right now. I’m still on the mind of God.
Isnt it wonderful to know that the things that concerns you, concerns him.
I know you are saying how can Gods mind hold every body in here in his mind. My brothers and sisters his mind is not like our mind. Isaih 40:28 declares , that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understandings.
In other words we shouldn’t even try to figure out the mind of God, we can’t search his understanding. How do you figure out the creator of heaven and earth. How do you figure out the being that breathed the breath of life into mankind. His mind is that powerful, he mind is that sovereign that he can speak to the wind and the wind blows. He can speak to the storm and the storm cease.
So we must understand that being in his mind is nothing to take lightly.
Contextual
We have here Israel where in a period of exile in which they had to experience 70 years. During the midst of this they where faced with false prophets explaining to them that they will be receiving peace and restoration sooner than what God had told them.
Jeremiah however explains to them that restoration will come but not until they had have went through the seven years.
However, Jeremiah confirms that through it all the end result would be for their good and not for evil.
That through all of this God still had a plan. Meaning that God was constructing everything for their good.
The Bible says that all things work together for those that Love the Lord.
Although we may not understand it it’s working for our Good.
It is through Gods planning process that most get discouraged. We want to get to the expected end without going through the planning and process of tThere is an end there is a beginning. However in the middle is often when we are discouraged. The enemy’s job is to discourage you before you get through. You have to go through in order to come out.
Can I encourage you to hang in there. We know that the Bible says that weeping may endure for a night but joy comets in the morning.
God has not changed his mind about you.
Here in the text it references to the children of Israel.
He says I know the thoughts that I think of you thoughts of peace and nor of Evil.. To give you an expected end. I'm other words God has your best interest at heart
He wants what is best for you.
He works behind the scenes putting the prices together to work for your good. My Bishop Bishop Gilyard calls him the life genius.
Although this particular text is talking about Israel
there are many other individuals in the Bible that may have thought God changed his mind about them.
Point 1.
The story of Job…….
He was a perfect and upright man.
He feared God and shunned evil.
The Bible declares that he was one of the greatest to everyone do that.
He was considered by God to be tempted by Satan.
He could could take everything he has but save his life.
Job lost his livestock, His Children. Even his own wife asked how could he hold on to his faith. If we didn’t know any better we wonder if Job
Questioned if God has changed chi’s mind about him he asked Why Have You Made Me Your Target”? (Job 7:20). Job did not understand the phrase after you have suffered a little while then you can reign with him.
God made certain with Job that he has not forgot about Job when he blessed Job with double of what he had before.
Point 2.
God has not changed his man’s about you.
The story of Joseph…..
The son of Jacob.. He was given the coat of many colors, He may have concidered God changed his mind about him when he was sold by his brothers into slavery.
But he was reassured God had not forgotten about him When he was, hired by potipher to work on th castle
He may have thought God changed his mind a out him when he was set up by potiphera wife
He went to jail because of the false accusations.
Everything he was put on jail prospered to the point that he was released from prison.
Joseph's ability to interpret Pharoahs dream put him the position to placed on position in the king kingdom. He was so successful that he was the one that saved his brothers when they could not even recognize him. God made sure he let Joseph know that he hasn't changed his mind about Joseph
Point 3.
Abraham may have thought God changed his mind about him. In Genesis God promised him that he would be the father of many nations. However years went by Abraham, and his wife Sarah was 90 years old and still haven’t conceive. I’m sure they may have thought God forgotten about them. However, soon as it looked like it was over God blessed them with Isaac at the age of 90 years old.
Point 4
The story of Jesus……
Most people would’ve thought God changed his mind about JESUS. He was sent to save us from our sins. However, he was crucified, hung between two thieves. Spit on, mocked and scorned. However just when they thought God forgot about him he got up on the third day with all power in his hands.
Closing:..
There was a poem about a man walking on the sand with God, this man would often look down and see two sets of footprints
He explained that during the most difficult times when he thought God had forgotten about him he would look down and only see one set. God to reminded him that it was in those times that you thought I forgot about you. I carried you.
Just as God didn't change his mind about about Job. He Change his mind about you, Just as God didn’t change his mind about Joseph, He did not change his mind about you, Just as God didnt change his mind about Abraham he hasn’t changed his mind about you. it about
You Just as God didn’t change his mind about Jesus. He hasn’t changed his mind about you
He said you are the lender and not the borrow, The head and not the tails. Above and not Beneath.
He calls us a Royal Priesthood in 1st peter 2:9
He says he chose us before the foundation of the earth in Ephesians 1
He says we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works In ephesians 2
He said he will never leave us nor forsake us in Duetoronmy 31
He calls us a precious treasure in Exodus 19
He says he cares for us so much that he knows the number of hairs on your head in Matthew 10
Dont think your in it along.
He has changed his mind about your family.
About your business.
