Dear HF, here we once again assembled in your house, and in your name. We come this morning to tell you thank you. Because we realize this morning that there is no way we would have made it without you. And God, its preaching time, we want to hear from heaven, the truth of the matter they didn’t come to see me, but they came see you. We come to hear a word from you. God, I come standing as your instrument, play me in any key you see fit that you’ll get the glory out of my life. Put me in reverse that you may be able to be put in drive. Sit me down that you may be able to stand me up. Anoint my mind, my mouth, and my message on the steady in the hallow of your hands. This we asked in Jesus name.
1 Samuel 23: (KJV)
23 Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors. 2 Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
4 Then David inquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand. 5 So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah. 6 And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.
13 Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth
14 And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
15 And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.
16 And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
17 And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.
18 And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.
1 Samuel 23:29 (KJV)
29 And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.
TEXT: Touch Not my Anointed
SUB-TEXT: When God is has you covered.
Look at somebody who look like they came to have church and say neighbor, idk about you but the only reason I made it this far is because I am Annointed by God
Fb, this sumac spotlight shine on an individual who life has been marked by missteps, mistakes, misfortunes, and mishaps. Its awesome because David has a life that been pegged with problems par riels and predicaments. It’s amazing because in the midst of dilemmas, difficulties, whenever we see this individual, he is running and hiding in caves from King Saul.
He narrowly escaped the betrayal by the Ziphites and being captured by Saul. This narrow escape of David’s attends to reach 110 degrees, high drama at its best, and the experience made such an impact upon David that he wrote Psalm 54 in honor of the occasion, describing what happened.
I love it Sis.Dupree the Bible gives us this particular person a charming, delightful distinction, the bible calls him a man after Gods own heart. Weather if you know it or not David is the subject of this sermon. David is experiencing pain, problems, persecutions, and predicaments,
NOT BECAUSE
He didn’t follow the ways of God
He didn’t obey the will of God
He didn’t walk with the word of God
But David is simply going through what he’s going through because he been anointed by God.
Let me pause there and put this thang in park and catalogue, categorize the areas of this text.
FB, although salvation is free, it cost to be the anointed of God. Because whenever God anoints you several things are going to happen.
When God anoints you the
1St: First thing that gonna happen is,
You’re gonna find favor from the father.
And truth of the matter why,
Some of us didn’t wait until the choir to sing to give God praise
Some of us didn’t wait until the preacher preach to shout hallelujah
Some of didn’t wait until the deacon pray us happy
Is because we know how it feels to be favored by God.
You wanna know how you work a job and you ain’t got the education for it. Its not because of you. It’s because of favor.
You wanna know how you in a house and you know you don’t have the credit for it. It aint because of you. It’s because of favor.
You wanna know and understand how you drive a car off the lot, and you know you don’t have the finances for it. It aint because of you. It’s because of favor.
You wanna know how you been sick, in midst of the Pandemic, Covid-19, and you like through to tell your testimony and someone else had the same sickness and they died from it. It ain’t because of you. It because of favor.
You wanna know why you been through so much hell In 2021, but you still look like heaven. It ain’t because of you. It because of favor.
You wanna know why you been through so much hell this year and the Lord didn’t let you lose your mind. It ain’t because of you. It because of favor.
You are sitting up in this church today enclosed in your right mind, with a reasonable portion of health and strength, Child of God if you don’t know its because you been favored by God.
Now some of yall sitting there like you did God a favor by showing up, but I stopped on my way to my heavenly home to remind you, You showed up to 1116 Amulet St, 2nd Sunday in November All because you been favored by God,
well I just need 9 people and I’ll make 10 and we will tear this church up all by ourselves. Who aint scared to testify, I know I been favored?
Tell your neighbor I know I been favored.
That’s why I shout, halla, praise Him, the way I do.
Hold up wait a minute some of yall still aint go it yet. So, let me drop it like it HOT this way. This how you know you been favored by God.
When you got 20.00 dollars in your pocket and go to Piggly Wiggly and the total rings up to 19.99.
That’s how you know you been favored by God.
I need a talk back church up in here this morning.
Look at your neighbor and tell them I know I been favored.
I now why some of yall don’t shout is because you been watching the TV prophet far to long. But the truth of the matter today is if David was in this FBC today he would testify that I dint find the favor of God when I was famous, I found the favor when I was in the field.
I don’t find the favor of God in the palace, I found it in a pasture.
That some good ALLITERATION, on a Sunday morning.
I wish I had a witness this morning that would help me move some of these dead folks that when I wasn’t looking for favor, favor came looking for me.
I wish I had some favored people in this house. Look at your neighbor and tell them I know I been favored. If that neighbor was too mean to talk turn to your other neighbor. As a matter of fact, you better scoot over some because I’m about to shout because I’m one of the ones that’s BEEN FAVORED BY GOD!!!!
PAUSE!!!
NOT ONLY
When God anoints you, will you have favor from the father.
When God anoints you, you will have fellowship with the father.
It’s a sad saint, that you sit in the sanctuary, silent and don’t have nothing to say but God been good to you. God been good to you.
It’s sad to say this that some folk aint even to PRICE IS RIGHT sence. I’m sure you heard of the game PRICE IS RIGHT, this game is so crazy that when the person name is called, they aint won nothing, they aint got no money yet, but when their name is called they automatically start hollering and screaming and running. Some of yall still aint got PRICE IS RIGHT since yet. This morning God called you by name. Look at you, Look how you are acting. You haven’t shouted yet, you haven’t yet, you just sit there with your NO AMEN saying self. Does anybody here got some PRICE IS RIGHT sense?
He’s been good to me. I’ve been having fellowship with the father.
Hold up wait a minute.
I’m to gonna get mad at your if you don’t praise Him. You there looking like you don’t know what going on. Because I don’t expect you to do something in this house that you don’t do in your own house. Because if your hand aint never went up at home, it’s gonna be hard to raise it in church. But I believe I got some church folk in this house who can say
When I think of the goodness of Jesus
And all He’s done for me
My soul cries out hallelujah
I wish I had somebody who knows how it feel to have fellowship with the Father. This is how you know you have had fellowship with the Lord, is when you are driving down the street and you start looking back over your life and think about all that HE’s brought you out of what He’s brought you though, and you have to pull that car over because you start giving God all of the glory because HE been that good in your life. So is there anybody in FB, today to know how it feel to have fellowship with the father.
CALCLMHY.
HE walks with me.
He talks with me.
He tells me that I am his own.
Here it is. When you’re anointed by God.
You have favor from the father.
You have fellowship with the father.
But when God anoints you there are gonna be some forces that oppose the father.
Stay right there I’m coming to get you.
When I was anointed to be the pastor of FBC. Yall appointment me but some of yall still haven’t realzed I’ve been anointed for the call, by God.
He too young.
He not married.
He still wet behind the ears.
But prior to the call you had someone experienced, older, and not wet behind the ears and ran your finances in the ground.
The moment God anoints you gonna have some haters. Minister Gilda Johnson. People will hate you because God put something in you that they wish they had in them. Some people haven’t realized, it’s not you, yet it’s the hand of God that’s on you. Its imperative that we understand that. And whenever God hand is on you the devil in hell can’t stop you.
PREACH BOY. IM TRYING.
I wish I just have 5 of yall to help me preach this text and tell your neighbor that I’m unstoppable. Yes, the devil done all he could.
HE tried to attack my body
He tried to attack my minstry
He tried to attack my mind, children, marriage, family. But here is he shout. I took a lick and kept on kicking.
PAUSE!!!!
In the discourse of this particular text. Saul is the appointed king over Israel. David is the anointed King of Israel. Saul is the appointed King of Israel. David is the anointed King of Israel.
Saul has an appointment, but he doesn’t have the anointment.
David has the anointing but not the appointment.
Saul has the appointment, but he doesn’t have the anointing of God.
David has the anointing of God but its not his appointed time yet.
Saul at one point of time in his life he too was anointed by God. But whenever you turn your back on the Lord. God is the only boss that will give you a pink slip on the job and still allow you to keep working.
Yall don’t feel me yet do you.
And so, David is the anointed King Over Israel. He been anointed then appointed. Saul been appointed but no longer he is anointed. And the only problem we have here today is we strive so much to be appointed but were not anointed. You so busy trying to be over some axillary or some ministry, you trying to be the head Nigro in charge, but you fail to realize some stuff God give you He just don’t appoint you, sometimes God got to anoint you first.
Why would we put you over children church and you don’t like children?
Why you wanna be an usher and you don’t even like to smile?
Why would God make you a deacon and you don’t like to pray?
Why would God call you to preach and you don’t like people?
God has to anoint you first then He will appoint you. I want you to understand why its so important to be anointed and not appointed because when even when you read the bible it’s not the appointed that destroys the yoke. It’s the anointing that destroys the yoke.
God wants you to be anointed.
I know you in the choir
I know you a deacon, deaconess, usher
I know you a minister
I know you the sound man
I know you work in the kitchen
But God wants you to be anointed.
And if we gonna move FBC forward, its gonna take some anointed people, not just people who know how to do the job.
While David is anointed by God, he is waiting on his assignment and he patient enough to learn that whatever I’m going through God can keep me in the midst of the very thing that look like it is getting ready to take me out. Don’t never think you gonna have a great anointing and don’t have some great attacks.
Because the greater the anointing greater the attacks.
The text says while he is going through the motion, David learns that God is on his side. God does something so significant for David that it helps each of us today. While David is going through the whole while David is going through life watch this God keeps him from being discovered.
After being warned by God that Saul was planning to attack David and that he would be betrayed by the people of Keilah, David flees the town and seeks refuge in the wilderness of Ziph. Saul hunted for David everyday but God would not allow David to be captured by Saul. While dwelling in Ziph, which means “refinery,” God uses this time in David’s life, this furnace of affliction to teach David important lessons; to build his faith and trust in the Lord; to draw David closer to the Lord
The scripture says everyday Saul is looking
to kill David
to destroy David
to take David out
Everyday he’s trying to kill him
Everyday he’s trying to take him out.
See you have shouted yet because Saul is not just any ordinary man. Saul is the King of Israel.
Not only does he have people in place, but he had power. And so, he says if yall find David, please don’t kill him bring him to me because I got some stuff, I need to deal with him on.
1st if all we have a reason with Bro Saul is because, the reason he has this problem with David is because he’s jealous. He’s envious of the man. He’s upset because David is singing a new song around town about
Saul has killed is thousand and David has killed his 10,000
And so, he’s upset. He’s mad. So everyday he looking for David but the problem is FB, is that he cannot find him and its suggested while David is going up one side of the mountain Saul is going up the other side of the mountain but God doesn’t allow them to have any interference but this is the whole shout yall whenever God hides you the enemy can’t find you.
And I just needs a few people who want to have church in here to help me testify that if it had not been of God hiding me
I would have gone crazy.
I would have been in a mental institution.
But is there anybody in this house who can look at your neighbor and say God is hiding me.
Amy Grant, say it like this….
Rock of ages, cleft for me
Let me hide, myself in Thee
The text suggest, Saul is looking for David, can’t find him. Every day he is looking for him. Trying to kill him. Trying to take him out. The text said something so paflic and so profound, but you didn’t respond to it. So, let’s see if you catch it this time.
14 And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
Its really 2 words that blew my mind in the text, that you missed because you really should have torn this church up off those 2 words. BUT GOD.
Let me try it one more time.
Having received God’s instructions, David quickly mobilized his men and left Keilah (vv. 13–14). Under no circumstances did David want to be the cause of another city’s being destroyed and its citizens slaughtered by Saul. Enough guilt was already weighing down upon his spirit due to the slaughter of the priests. As quickly as he could, he and his men fled from the fierce pursuit of Saul. And from this point on, David adopted a two-pronged strategy:
⇒ that of constantly relocating, moving from place to place.
⇒ that of seeking refuge in frontier areas, in strongholds that could be easily defended.
d. As soon as Saul heard that David had fled from Keilah, he began to search for and seek out David with a fierce determination to hunt him down. But note what Scripture says: God kept Saul from finding David. David was not delivered into the hands of the king.
e. One day David heard that Saul was right on his heels, searching nearby. David was at Horesh in the Desert of Ziph, a dry, barren, destitute area that was close by the Dead Sea (v. 15). It was an area where survival would have been almost impossible.
FB: How many know Deliverance comes through prayer. It is God Himself who delivers us, but its imparritive that we grasps the fact that God works through prayer. When we face the trials and temptations of this life, God expects us to turn to Him, to pray and seek His face for help. God cares for us; therefore He is concerned about what happens to us. Every time a particular trial confronts us, God wants to help us. He wants to empower us to conquer the trial or temptation. He wants us to be triumphant, victorious over all trials and temptations. No greater message of encouragement could be given us than the message of prayer this morning. We can pray, cry out to the LORD, and He will hear us. In our moment of need—whether mild or desperate need—if we will just pray, God will hear us and deliver us. This is the wonderful promise of His Holy Word:
Everyday he’s trying you kill him, take him out, find him, uh the truth of the matter the reason he survives the congressional search warrant is because of a but God circumstance. And the only folk who can give God praise and give God glory about bout the text is because you know how it feels to have a BUT GOD circumstance in your life.
I was Sick, but God healed my body.
I had more month than money, but God kept a roof over my head.
I just need one more person who know how it feels to have a but God moment. Look at your neighbor and tell them but God. No that the wrong neighbor that’s a boggie neighbor, find you a neighbor out the projects and say.
But God…
Kept food on my table
Kept clothes on my back
Kept me from cutting up and cussing
Someone may have got a bad Dr. report BUT GOD healed my body.
I aint perfect BUT GOD.
I know why some of you aint shouting. I know why some of you aint happy yet. Is because it’s gonna be hard to get happy when you haven’t got rid of the Saul in your life. Saul is that jealous person. You know some people get Joy out of seeing you go through. Saul is the kind of person that you don’t need around you. In fact, Saul came to worship with us this morning. Some of yall sitting by some Saul’s this morning.
You aint moved.
You aint said nothing.
The choir have sung.
The deacon has prayed.
The praise team have rendered song. And you have said nothing. See that why it is very important that you have to be very cognitive and careful of who you sit by in church.
I been watching yall.
See you ain’t waved your hands.
They aint waved their hands.
You haven’t told God TY. They haven’t told God TY.
Stop sitting folk who don’t need nothing. Find you someone who need God for real. Wait I’m gonna give you permission. If you are sitting by somebody dead and lifeless you have my permission to pack, your bag get you baby and your grandbaby and move somewhere else. Find somebody who wants to have some church. Don’t sit by no Saul, I don’t want to hear the latest gossip, IDK what’s going on down the street, what’s going on around the corner.
IDC what you seen on Natchitoches topix.
ICD what you seen basketball wives
But I need to know is word from the Lord.
And when I come to church on Sunday morning,
I don’t wanna know what u seen on Facebook, and
I don’t wanna know what you read on the newspaper, and
I don’t wanna know what happen last night with so and so,
I don’t wanna know the latest gossop about the
but when I’m in a down and out, I need to know is there a word from the Lord?
Somebody died last night.
Somebody was sick last night.
Somebody thinking about suicide.
Somebody tried to kill there selves…
And Facebook aint gonna save nobody,
Media aint gonna deliver nobody,
what you seen on love and hip-hop aint gonn help nobody.
I know what some of yall still aint shouting. So, let me help you. It’s gonna be hard to get rid of Saul when you are Saul. You the only one who got something bad to say about the church yet still you show up here every Sunday is its that dog on bad stay at home and watch TD Jakes or Joel Olsten.
You need to get rid of the Saul in your life.
Pause!!!
He looks for him. And can’t find him. Something shouted on the inside of me which I’m scared to tell you this because you might shout. But David, You do know I talked to David b4 I got here. I ask David how in the world Saul can look for you each and every day and can’t find you. Not only so Saul looking for you, but Saul have all his men looking for you. David tell me why they can’t find you and take you out. And I need something to shout these people.
I already told them that when God hides you the enemy cant find you.
I needed some answers.
David suggest that
it’s gonna be hard to (kill, destroy, defeat) what God got covered.
I just need you to tell yourself I’m covered, I’m covered, I’m covered.
I fell short but I’m covered.
I’m not perfect but I’m covered.
I aint done everything right but I’m covered.
I had a baby out of wedlock, but I’m covered.
God keeps him covered.
God keeps him from being discovered. See what you have to understand is that God is on your side.
I know you sick but God is on your side.
I know your children giving you problems, but God is on your side.
So now David is in the wood. Saul looking for him and can’t find him. This is the real shout. God know who to keep out of your life. You missed it.
God sends David a friend to encourage him in this difficult time.… Jonathan. He strengthens David’s hand in God. David needed this encouragement because he is about to get his back against the wall and have one of those experiences where you see your whole life pass before your eyes. Yet, David is going to learn, like God’s people of old, that the Lord comes through just in the nick of time, usually in the last minute of the fourth quarter or like the last batter in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Lord does this if it is His will and plan.
David had been warned that Saul was nearby by his close friend Jonathan, and Jonathan was risking his life to visit and warn David. Note that Jonathan not only warned David of his father’s fierce pursuit, but he also encouraged David and helped him find strength in the LORD. No doubt the two men prayed together and sought the LORD, requesting that the LORD empower David with the necessary courage and strength to bear the pressure of the stressful circumstances.
Notice how Jonathan encouraged David: he reminded David of the LORD’s promise that he would someday be king. Therefore he should not fear his father Saul, for the LORD would keep Saul from capturing and harming David. Because of the LORD’s promise, David was assured of becoming king. And note how Jonathan was expecting to be second to David in his government. Moreover, even Jonathan’s father Saul knew this.
Before Jonathan left, he and David renewed their covenant of friendship before the LORD. They were committed to remain friends and to guard each other’s welfare as long as they lived. Having renewed their friendship covenant, each went his way. Jonathan went home, but David remained at Horesh. And this was to be their last meeting. Jonathan is not mentioned again until his death upon the battlefield along with his father (1 S. 31:2).
Everyday Saul is looking to kill him. But God sends Saul son Johnathan. Johnathan walk right up to David.
How you doing?
Everything alright? You missed it.
I just told you every day Saul is looking to kill David, but cannot find him but Saul son Johnathan walks in the same woods, hey David how you doing? Is everything alright? I’m just checking on you.
This is why yall ought to be shouting is because God always have a way of allowing the wrong folk to walk out so that the right folk to walking.
God is so much God in that text Kevin Porter, that he will move folk that you aint got sense enough to tell to leave. God got since enough to move folk out your life that you aint got since enough to tell don’t call me no more.
Don’t text me no more.
Don’t message me no more.
Don’t say noting to me ever again.
Don’t DM me anymore on instant gram.
My time is winding. My time is winding
But while he’s in the woods, Johnathan encouraged him and embraces him, and reminded him of God word, Amen, Johnathan empowers him by saying, I’m gonna be your strength when you are weak. Church you got a real friend that willing to put their life on the line for you and go against their own daddy.
Check this out, this is so real, see if Saul finds them, not only is he gonna kill David but he gonna kill his son too. You mean to tell me you know where this joker at and you won’t tell me. You know I’m looking for him. Yet he so much of a friend to say hey brother I just come to check on you and make sure your alright. You aint got much of a friend when they are telling your business to everybody. But sometimes you just need somebody in your life that says,
I don’t even know what’s going on
I don’t even care to hear it
I just called to tell you keep your head up high.
See yall some gossipers that’s why you aint shouted yet. See if you a real friend you know how it feels to keep your mouth closed and stop telling everybody business.
What happened, yall was just shouting 5 minutes ago.
He so much of a friend that he put his life on the line. He says I come to empower you. I come to remind someone that what God has for you is for you.
Now this gonna be strange, but make sure you are sitting by someone you like. If you don’t like, then gone move. Gone move. This is how you know you got the right people sitting next to you. For just about 5 seconds don’t praise for you but praise him for the person sitting beside you.
Praise him like a blessing, healing, deliverance is coming to their household.
Like God is about to save their family, their children, their spouse.
Watch this. He encourages him. HE says what God has for you is for you. Watch this, he so much of a friend that he says I’m not worried about the position, because I see you potential.
Wait a minute, if you really read the bible you will know if anybody who should have been next in line to be king of Israel, it should have been Johnathan and not David. But he s much of a friend he says, I’m too worried about the position, because I see your potential.
See in this Christian walk you got to center your self around people who will stop looking at your right now and see your not yet. Stop focusing on right now. See I might be down, discouraged, broke, right now, but is there anybody that can give him praise because you got a not yet on the way.
I’m leaving you.
I’m leaving you.
Watch this, he says you got to embrace him. HE literally says in the KJV, David and Johnathan make a covenant before the lord.
This whole covenant simply means, I won’t take things I know about you to use them against you.
This covenant simply means if I give you my sword, you won’t turn around and use it on me.
This covenant means, I can know the worst about you and still think the best of you.
I know that ant gonna shout yall because you think you need Johnathan, but the truth is of the matter is that we might not have a man name Johnathan, but we have a man name Jesus.
And he knows you ratchet, rugged, low down, conniving,
He knows you don’t do everything right
You don’t pay tithes
You come to rob him
You don’t cross t every eye and cross every T
You mix drinks together
You go to the purple building and mix vodka and sprite together
You done some crazy stuff
But the shout is that he knows the worst about you and still wake you up in the morning
God knew the worst about you and still love you
In spite of you…
Thank God for the covenants.
FB, I’m done here now,
but the text that when God is on your side.
NOT ONLY
Here it is. When you’re anointed by God.
You have favor from the father.
You have fellowship with the father.
But when God anoints you there are gonna be some forces that oppose the father.
does he keep you from being discovered?
Finally, He’ll keep you from being defeated.
HE keeps you from being defeated. The text suggest that David goes to live in the strong holds of Engedi. Wish I had a bible reader. Its in 29 when you get time read it.
He goes to live in the strong holds of Engedi... It’s a desolate place but in this place, it has a refreshing oasis. Its amazing because even though it’s a place if being all by yourself, amen but in this place of being in the strong holds God supplies you with whatever you need.
See even in your strong hold God will give you what you need. I wish I had a church who went through some rough stuff in your life.
It got hard on you, you can testify the Lord kept making a way for me.
you wanted to give up give in and give out you can testify the Lord kept making a way for me.
but you here this morning to testify that the Lord kept making a way out of no way
He will be a bridge over trouble water
Company keeper in a moment of despair.
In the strong hold,
This aint gonna arouse you. It’s not noting deep but Watch he shout. David is living in the strong hold. See you missed it. I told you it wasn’t nothing deep.
David is living
David is living
See the shout this morning about the whole text is that if it was left up Saul David would have never made it to the strong hold.
But when your life is in the Lord hands, you ought to testify I’m still here.
See I’m broke
I’m depressed
I’m going through some stuff But I’m still here.
IS there anybody here that come t gives him glory to because you been to hell and high water but you still here.
Close it!!!!
Tell somebody I am,
I am,
still here
I should have been Lord dead
a long time
ago
sleeping in a cold chili grave
I should have been dead a long time ago
But thanks be to God I am still here.
I been through some stuff, Lord but I come to testify if it had not been for the Lord who was on my side, tell me where I would be
Shake some body hand, don’t touch nobody that dead but shake somebody hand and say neighbor I’m still here
That why I can testify
When I look back over my life and seeee, where he brought me form
I got to testify,
where I am The Lord brought me.
What I know. The Lord Taught me.
Who I am.? The Lord made me.
Good eveeeening.
May the Lord bless you? Is there anybody in here who can testify, that the Lord has been on your side.
If you neighbor sitting down. Tell them get up out that seat.
And let’s have some church.
Because the Lord is on my side.
FB, you got to excuse me. But look at your neighbor. Say neighbor..
I’m one of the ones.
That been through the storm.
That been thought the rain.
That had heart aches and pain.
But through it all. Through it all.
I still got my Joy. Peace. Happiness. Joy.
Because this Joy that I have.
The world didn’t give it to me.
The world can’t take it away.
Excuse me. I don’t mean to be mean.

I. DAVID’S MERCY TOWARD SAUL (24:1–22): This is the first of two occasions when David could easily kill Saul but does not do so.
A. The resumption (24:1–2): After routing the Philistines, Saul once again continues his relentless hunt for David.
B. The realization (24:3–4): David’s men, hiding in the cave, realize that there is an opportunity to kill Saul, who has entered the cave to relieve himself.
C. The restraint (24:4–7): David does not kill Saul but cuts off a piece of Saul’s robe without the king knowing it.
D. The rebuke (24:8–15): After Saul leaves the cave, David calls out to him and bows low before him, showing him the piece of robe he cut off. David uses this to prove that he is not seeking Saul’s harm, because he could have killed him if he had wanted to. David asks Saul why he continues to chase him.
E. The remorse (24:16–19): Saul becomes ashamed and acknowledges that David is a better man than he.
F. The realization (24:20–22): Saul also acknowledges that God has indeed chosen David to be king over Israel!
We find the Ziphites betraying David, offering Saul the information of his whereabouts and helping Saul to find David. Saul’s response is “Bless you! You had compassion on me!” This is amazing because these were David’s own people from his own tribe of Judah! Yet, they strengthened Saul’s hand to sin. Instead of being thankful to David for all that he has done, they reward David with treachery and unthankfulness. They reward evil for good, an issue the Lord addresses in His Word and David talks about.
* Psalm 35:12—They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul.
* Psalm 109:5—And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
* Proverbs 17:13—Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
Many great men have been rewarded with unthankfulness for their goodness.…
Joseph (Genesis 40:23);
Gideon (Judges 8:35);
Jehoida (2 Chronicles 24:22);
Our Lord (at Calvary).
The question arises at this point, “Why would they do this to David?” One reason is fear.… the fear of being wiped out by Saul. Another reason is favor.… the selling of their honor to gain the material, the rewards, the promotion from Saul.
How do you respond when a friend or even a spouse turns against you, betrays you, or stabs you in the back? It is very painful, isn’t it? How do you respond? David shares his response and feelings in Psalm 54.
Psalm 54 is a maschil psalm, the seventh of thirteen such psalms. Maschil psalms are psalms of instruction with lessons to teach. The title reads “To the chief Musician on Neginoth.” This word neginoth means “smitings.” Eight psalms have this note attached to them. They all contain a record of deliverance from personal smitings. This chapter is one of betrayal and deliverance. It shows David’s response to betrayal.
