THE PATH TO PRAISE

1. 1.PRAISE HIM WITH PURPOSE

- Lie #1: Worship is when we talk about God.

- Truth #1: Worship is when we come into the presence of God.

Psalm 22:23 (NLT)
23 Praise the Lord, all you who fear him! Honor him, all you descendants of Jacob! Show him reverence, all you descendants of Israel!

 Psalm 50:15 (NKJV)
15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."

 
2. PRAISE HIM WITH RELATIONSHIP

- Lie #2: Good worship leaves me feeling pleased.

- Truth #2: Good worship leaves God feeling pleased.


- Ephesians 5:9-11 (NKJV)
9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),
10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

- Most Christians believe that they are the audience; in truth, God is the audience.

3. PRAISE HIM WITH THE RIGHT ATTIUDUE

- Lie #3: In worship, the focus is on the people on stage.

- Truth #3: In worship, the focus is on God.

Isaiah 6:1 (NKJV)
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.

Romans 12:1 (NKJV)
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

The word praise is the Hebrew word YADDAH which means to confess, to throw a symbol of the lev 16:21
- We need to take the focus off the performance and put it on the praise.

4. 4.PRAISE HIM WITH INTERIGTY

- Lie #4: Good worship happens when the music and sermon are good.

- Truth #4: Good worship happens when we worship in spirit and truth.

John 4:22-24 (NKJV)
22 You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

5. PRAISE HIM WITH A SURRENDERED SPIRT

- Lie #5: Worship happens in church.

- Truth #5: Worship is an everyday thing.

Psalm 34:1-3 (NKJV)
1. I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.


- Worship can happen anytime we are open to the reality and presence of God

6. 6.PRAISE HIM WITH A SPIRIT OF EXPECTANCY

- Lie #6: I’m willing to worship if this thing takes off.

- Truth #6: I’m willing to worship knowing it will come to pass.

- John 12:43.

1 Chronicles 29:10-14 (NKJV)
10 Therefore David blessed the Lord before all the assembly; and David said: "Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever.
11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all.
12 Both riches and honor come from You, And You reign over all. In your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great And to give strength to all.
13 "Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name.
14 But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have

7. PRAISE HIM BECAUSE HE IS WROTHY

1. The Word makes it clear that God is worthy of worship
Psalm 115:1 (NKJV)
1 Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, But to Your name give glory, Because of Your mercy, Because of Your truth.

2. The Word makes it clear that God alone is worthy of worship
Hebrews 13:15 (NKJV)
15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

3. The Word makes it clear that all of nature worships God

Psalm 24:1-2 (NKJV)
1 A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.
2 For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters.

4. The Word makes it clear that every person will eventually worship God.
Philippians 2:10-11 (NKJV)
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
