I. Who is "The Lord your God"? (Ex. 20:1-3)
- The God who is Lord. (Ex. 19:16-19)
- The God who loves us. (Ex. 20:2)
- The God who is jealous. (Ex. 34:14; Zech. 8:2)
II. Which is the greatest commandment?
- There were many Old Testament commandments.
- There were ten very foundational commandments.
- Jesus declared which two were the greatest. (Deut. 6:5; Lev. 19:18)
III. What does it look like to obey the two greatest commandments?
- Love the Lord God above all else. (Ex. 20:3-11; John 21:15)
- Love others
- As ourself. (Lev. 19:18; Ex. 20:12-17; Matt. 7:12; Rom. 13:9-10)
- As God has loved us. (John 13:34-35; I Jn. 4:19-21, 7-12)
IV. What happens if we reverse the two greatest commandments? (John 8:1-11; I Cor. 6:9-11; Matt. 19:3-6; Gen. 1 & 2)
V. What happens if we disobey the commandments of God?
- We mess things up. (Gen. 2-3)
- We separate ourselves from God (Rom. 6:23; Mark 12:28-34)
