HOW TO HAVE A LOVE CONNECTION WITH GOD LIVING THROUGH THE PANDEMIC PASTOR A. GLEN BASUEL JESUS REPLIED, “LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND. 38 THIS IS THE FIRST AND GREATEST COMMANDMENT.” (MATTHEW 22:37-38) 37 1. BY COMMUNING WITH HIM I LOVE THE LORD, FOR HE HEARD MY VOICE; HE HEARD MY CRY FOR MERCY. 2 BECAUSE HE TURNED HIS EAR TO ME, I WILL CALL ON HIM AS LONG AS I LIVE. (PSALM 116:1-2) 1 “I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD; I KNOW MY SHEEP AND MY SHEEP KNOW ME— 15 JUST AS THE FATHER KNOWS ME AND I KNOW THE FATHER—AND I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR THE SHEEP. 16 I HAVE OTHER SHEEP THAT ARE NOT OF THIS SHEEP PEN. I MUST BRING THEM ALSO. THEY TOO WILL LISTEN TO MY VOICE, AND THERE SHALL BE ONE FLOCK AND ONE SHEPHERD.” (JOHN 10:14-16) 14 2. BY PUBLICLY IDENTIFYING WITH HIM IF ANYONE IS ASHAMED OF ME AND MY WORDS IN THIS ADULTEROUS AND SINFUL GENERATION, THE SON OF MAN WILL BE ASHAMED OF THEM WHEN HE COMES IN HIS FATHER’S GLORY WITH THE HOLY ANGELS.” (MARK 8:38) …THE LORD JESUS, ON THE NIGHT HE WAS BETRAYED, TOOK BREAD, 24 AND WHEN HE HAD GIVEN THANKS, HE BROKE IT AND SAID, “THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH IS FOR YOU; DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.” 25 IN THE SAME WAY, AFTER SUPPER HE TOOK THE CUP, SAYING, “THIS CUP IS THE NEW COVENANT IN MY BLOOD; DO THIS, WHENEVER YOU DRINK IT, IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.” 26 FOR WHENEVER YOU EAT THIS BREAD AND DRINK THIS CUP, YOU PROCLAIM THE LORD’S DEATH UNTIL HE COMES. (1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-26) 23 OR DON’T YOU KNOW THAT ALL OF US WHO WERE BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST JESUS WERE BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH? 4 WE WERE THEREFORE BURIED WITH HIM THROUGH BAPTISM INTO DEATH IN ORDER THAT, JUST AS CHRIST WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD THROUGH THE GLORY OF THE FATHER, WE TOO MAY LIVE A NEW LIFE. (ROMANS 6:3-4) 3 3. BY BEING COMMITTED TO HIM THEREFORE, I URGE YOU, BROTHERS AND SISTERS, IN VIEW OF GOD’S MERCY, TO OFFER YOUR BODIES AS A LIVING SACRIFICE, HOLY AND PLEASING TO GOD—THIS IS YOUR TRUE AND PROPER WORSHIP. (ROMANS 12:1) BUT SINCE YOU EXCEL IN EVERYTHING—IN FAITH, IN SPEECH, IN KNOWLEDGE, IN COMPLETE EARNESTNESS AND IN THE LOVE WE HAVE KINDLED IN YOU—SEE THAT YOU ALSO EXCEL IN THIS GRACE OF GIVING. (2 CORINTHIANS 8:7) 1. COMMUNE WITH HIM (PSALM 116:1-2, JOHN 10:14-16) 2. PUBLICLY IDENTIFY WITH HIM (MARK 8:38, 1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-26, ROMANS 6:3-4) 3. BE COMMITTED TO HIM (ROMANS 12:1, 2 CORINTHIANS 8:7)
