Deliverance is the Kingdom way

Luke 11:20 NKJV
20 But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Luke 11:20 TPT
20 Yet if I am casting out demons by God’s mighty power, God’s kingdom realm is now released upon you—but you still reject it!
Luke 18:8 NKJV
8 I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
Pattern of Jesus
No Old testament record of driving out evil spirits
Mark 1:23–28 NKJV
23 Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, 24 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” 25 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” 26 And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him. 27 Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.” 28 And immediately His fame spread throughout all the region around Galilee.
Jesus spoke with such a glory and power emanating from him. Jesus taught from inner knowledge of God
The demon knew Jesus’ true identity before the apostles did. The demonized man was apparently comfortable in the presence of the religious teachers, but when Jesus stepped into the room, the demon spoke out and couldn’t resist the power of Jesus
Demons, evil spirits, unclean spirits - different kinds of spirits
Jesus dealt with the spirit in the man
Daimonizomai (Greek) - to be demonized, not possessed
Mark 1:32–34 NKJV
32 At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed. 33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door. 34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.
Expel - will and physical action
Jesus wants us to proclaim who He is, not demons
Mark 1:39 NKJV
39 And He was preaching in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and casting out demons.
Mark 1:39 So he continued preaching in their synagogues and expelling evil spirits throughout the whole of Galilee. (J.B. Phillips New Testament)
A continuing ministry ofJesus
Associated with healing
Luke 4:40–41 NKJV
40 When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them. 41 And demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” And He, rebuking them, did not allow them to speak, for they knew that He was the Christ.
Luke 13:11–16 NKJV
11 And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. 12 But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” 13 And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. 14 But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.” 15 The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? 16 So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?”
Ministry of healing and deliverance is interwoven
Most of those who Jesus delivered from demons were religious Jews, forbidden ever to practice witchcraft or idolatry. They were ‘normal’ people, neither criminal nor insane. Yet Jesus cast many thousands of demons out of them
Spirit of infirmity, bondage, crippling, weakness
Continuing Ministry
Luke 13:31–32 NKJV
31 On that very day some Pharisees came, saying to Him, “Get out and depart from here, for Herod wants to kill You.” 32 And He said to them, “Go, tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.’
Until His work of perfection on the cross
Most of Jesus’ ministry is healing and deliverance. Jesus combined His casting out of demons with His normal ministry of preaching and teaching in the public place of worship. This was nothing like the atmosphere of a psychiatrist’s office
Equipping of Disciples
No one was sent out to evangelize without being commissioned to deal with evil spirits
Matthew 10:1–8 NKJV
1 And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. 2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Cananite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. 5 These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ 8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
Luke 10:1 NKJV
1 After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.
Luke 10:17 NKJV
17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
Mark 16:15–17 NKJV
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
Matthew 28:19–20 NKJV
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Acts 8:5–7 NKJV
5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them. 6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. 7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed.
Unbelief is the cause of rejection
Luke 11:20 TPT
20 Yet if I am casting out demons by God’s mighty power, God’s kingdom realm is now released upon you—but you still reject it!
He couldn’t do much in Nazareth due to unbelief
Mark 6:5–6 NKJV
5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.
A man brought his son who had a mute spirit - disciples couldn’t - unbelief
Mark 9:19 NKJV
19 He answered him and said, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.”
Mark 9:23–24 NKJV
23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
Mark 16:9–11 NKJV
9 Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. 10 She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept. 11 And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe.
Session 2: Demonology
Demonology is the study of demons
Terminology
‘Devil’ (Greek diablos) - slanderer - Satan himself
‘Demon’ (Greek diamon or diamonion) - a spirit regarded by heathen as divine - evil spirit
Different expressions
To have an unclean/evil spirit
To be under the influence of
To be demonized - incorrectly translates to be ‘possessed with devils’
Nature of Demons
Demons are spirits without bodies and are earthbound
Demons have all the hallmark of normal personality
Will, emotions, knowledge, ability to speak, etc.,
Three mani objective of demons
To keep you from knowing Christ as Savior
To keep you from serving Him effectively
To torment and torture you
Demons operate from two positions
From outside the body
From within the body
Flesh Vs Demon
Flesh must be crucified - Galatians 5:24
Demons must be expelled
Session 3: Activities of Demons
There activities may be summed up by various verbs
Deceive
1 Timothy 4:1–2 NKJV
1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,
Pride opens the door to deception
Entice
attract or tempt by offering pleasure or advantage (James 1:14)
James 1:14 NKJV
14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
Enslave
cause (someone) to lose their freedom of choice or action. "they were enslaved by their need to take drugs"
Romans 8:15 NKJV
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
Torment
Unforgiveness opens the door to torment
Physical torment - example of arithritis
Mental torment - example of fear of going insane
Spiritual torment - fear of having committed “the unforgivable sin”
2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
1 John 4:18 NKJV
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
Compel or Drive
Luke 8:29 NKJV
29 For He had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had often seized him, and he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles; and he broke the bonds and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.
Defile
Titus 1:15 NKJV
15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled.
Harras
subject to aggressive pressure or intimidation.
"being harassed at work can leave you feeling confused and helpless”
Weaken, make sick, tired or kill
Addiction (compel plus enslave)
In general, demonized people are restless in some areas
Where do they reside
Proverbs 25:28 NKJV
28 Whoever has no rule over his own spirit Is like a city broken down, without walls.
Emotions and attitudes (gangs)
behind every emotion and attitude there is an evil spirit
Mind
Tongue
Sex
Sex is not evil
Every form of compulsive sex aberration is demonic (a departure from what is normal, usual, or expected, typically one that is unwelcome.)
Lusts - perverted desires or appetites
1 John 2:16 NKJV
16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
Occult
All false religions, philosophies and cults
All heresies - departures from the Christian faith
1 Timothy 4:1–3 NKJV
1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
Physical bodies

Practical tips
Luke 10:19 NKJV
19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Jesus combined His casting out of demons with His normal ministry of preaching and teaching.
Healing and deliverance or interwoven
Laying on of hands should always be done with caution
Do not engage in long conversations with a demon
Jesus never commanded demons to to go to hell or the pit
Acts 19:11–16 NKJV
11 Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them. 13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” 14 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so. 15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?” 16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
