Not simply David’s last words, but the last which he spoke by the spirit of God.

Word of Prophecy
May our last words be as beneficial to others as David’s were, instead of words of failure and regret.
God raised up David, his anointed king, from all the tribes of Israel.
And, David is thought to be the greatest Psalmist of the people of Israel.

It was because of David’s insistence that the Temple was built, though God did not allow him to build it.

Others wrote about David’s self-denial, though he had indulged himself with another man’s wife and had him murdered on the front lines of battle.

It was only after he lost his son that David felt he was made right with God.
It was David’s prayer that the true righteous one, who would rule in the fear of God would come, overthrow, and condemn all evil in this world. Even when that evil came from him.

But when the righteous one came, they did not know him.

The Jewish leaders wanted to use Jesus’ death as a demonstration to any other would-be upstarts.
While they were trying to find ways to kill him, Pilate was trying to find a way to keep him alive.
Pilate took him at his word, that he was a king; a king of somewhere else, so he had no grounds on which to condemn him. He would be risking war, if Jesus was an earthly king.
But prophecy had already predicted Jesus being turned over the Gentiles to be mocked, beaten, whipped, and hung.
So, to keep the peace with the religious leaders, Pilate made a deal Jesus in place for a murderous zealot, Barabbas.

Maybe they didn’t know him because they no longer knew what righteousness was.

Rulers of this world often use the threat of violence and death get others to do their will.

Yes, even in democratic societies.

David was a man after the heart of God.

David instituted the construction of the Temple, a “house” for God,

Though God would have no need for such a house.
David wrote man poems and songs to God, though many contain passages calling for retribution.
David brought together a nation, though it came about by war.
David had many descendants, though he caused murder to gain a son.

David had many flaws, just like any other human.

God made an everlasting covenant with David, that the people of Israel would be made secure through David’s descendants.

One of those descendants was Jesus.

Jesus claimed that he came to “testify to the truth.”

Pilate wanted to understand, asking “what is truth?”
Probably to him, condemning Jesus would be to condemn any philosopher who sought “truth.”
The risen and returned Christ is said to be “the faithful witness”

Jesus is the only entirely faithful witness of God.

Those who reject the truth of God in Jesus Christ are thrust away from him, like thorns.
However, the moment that they receive him, they are welcomed with open arms into the kingdom.

Jesus Christ is THE faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead (resurrection), and ruler over the kings and governors of the earth. Rev. 1:5

Christ is not President, he isn’t running a campaign, or taking polls on our approval or disapproval.
Christ chased out the people with money away from the Temple, the center of Jewish life.
Christ continually questioned the morality of those in power, political and religious.
When Jesus took a poll, he challenged his own disciple’s certainty.
He certainly would never be elected President in the U.S.

Christ humbles those who would raise themselves up.

Jesus took on death, to set all who believe in him free from all worldly powers, for a higher position before his throne.

All titles of human nobility become useless in the presence of Christ the King of Creation.

We all come before God as the mere humans, butt we are transformed into his likeness.

We all come together children of God in holiness and happiness by the power of God.
Thank God that Jesus Christ loves us and freed us from the bondage of sin and death by his own blood, and he made all who believe a kingdom of priests devoted to God the Father forever.

It is because of him that we have hope; Jesus, our King, will come again.
