First Mission of the 12

Luke 9:1-10.

1. The Commission, vv. 1-2.

a. He called them.

b. He gave them power: dýnamis, doo'-nam-is--force.

c. He gave them authority: exousía, ex-oo-see'-ah--The right to do it.

d. We have that same power an authority as Christians--HIS WORD.

v. 2.

a. He sent them to preach (ka ru s so)--herald proclaiming.

b. The Kingdom of God.

2. The Command, vv. 3-6.

a. Then He told them what to take on the journey.

VV. 3-4, He told them what to take.

b. Shake off the Dust, v. 5.

Luke 10:10-11; Matthew 10:14-15.

3. The Confusion (Who is this man?)

Luke 9:7-9.

4. The Conclusion, v. 10.

Mark 6:30-32.

Vance Havner used to say, “If we don’t come apart and rest, we’ll just come apart.”

First come to Jesus, we can’t do anything apart from God, we need the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. Make Disciples. Matthew 28:18-20.
