Evangelism

Camp 1 - Christians need to talk about Jesus and live a life that is consistent with what you believe
Camp 2 - All you have to do is live a good life and it will speak for iteslf
Big Jump - Everyone can live a good life.
Romans 3:10–11 ESV
10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; 11 no one understands; no one seeks for God.
Mark 10:17–22 ESV
17 And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’ ” 20 And he said to him, “Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth.” 21 And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
Jesus=God - Nobody is good except fro him 0 No one is Good.
Reduce it to visible Godly life?
Just by watching can they learn all they need to know about God
Follow a Christian, Mormon, Jehovah’s Witness
Attends worship, Prays, loves family, gives money, basically good people.
So what God do you pick?
Who’s right? How do we know? How do you compare unless they tell you why they do what they do?
Talking becomes critical
Nature reveals the invisible attributes of God - But...
How do you know what he requires of you?
Who he really is? What his plan is without some specific revelation?
What did God decide was the best choice to communicate the specifics of his will.
He intervened in history and spoke through men to communicate his message.
How else would we know all that God has done?
Creation, Rebellion, Consequence, and then Jesus Died on the cross and resurrection from death
You can’t just hope people will ny watching you live a so called good life? That’s not enough
Romans 10:9–17 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Matthew 28:18–20 ESV
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Christians are commanded to live a life worhy of the calling they are given but that includes giving answers and reasons when they are asked.
