First giving all honer and praise to God. Honer Aaron and Evelyn say something about Giney.
Had to decide to preach about thanksgiving, pastor and wife's appreciation, church anniversary, or the new series of Gods program. So I just decided I would talk about God. Because outside of our community our safe haven the world is still missing God. Even several churches are missing God. In result of that families and communities are missing God. Every president every political party has missed who God is. Sometimes we are not missing God. Instead we could either misunderstanding God or miss repositioning Him. There are so many people who are coming in the name of God but do not understand who God is. There are people who are working in the name of Lord but the behavior implys that they have misunderstood the master. When you are missing God it is impossible to understand the benefits that come with knowing God. For example there are people who believe that Jesus was a great prophet. I can not look to Him as the savior if He was only a great prophet. If I can not look at him as my savior then I can never be saved. So the question is raised how do I know God? The answer is by understanding Jesus.
John 1:1–4 AMP
IN THE beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was present originally with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being. In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men.
So to know God is to understand Jesus. He says the only way to get to the father is by me. So how do we understand Jesus? We understand Jesus through the word. So we understand Jesus through the word And by doing this we have a better understanding of who God is we are then positioning ourselves to receive the Lords benefits. So for a title I would like to use

Understanding the Lords Benefits

Psalm 103:1–5 NKJV
Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:1–5 AMP
[A Psalm] of David. BLESS (AFFECTIONATELY, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul; and all that is [deepest] within me, bless His holy name! Bless (affectionately, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul, and forget not [one of] all His benefits— Who forgives [every one of] all your iniquities, Who heals [each one of] all your diseases, Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption, Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy; Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle’s [strong, overcoming, soaring]!
Psalms (Vol. II) (Psalm 103)
This has been called the PSALM of joy and thanksgiving for God’s manifolded mercies..The psalm divides itself into four portions: the first (vers. 1–5) an outburst of praise for blessings granted by God to each man ; the second (vers. 6–14) an standing of his loving-kindnesses towards his group as a whole; the third (vers. 15–18) a representation of man’s weakness and dependence on God; and the fourth (vers. 19–22) a glance at God’s unchanging glory, and a call upon all his creation to bless and worship him.
my spiritual father Preached one of my favorite sermons every thanksgiving from Psalms 103 titled worn out shoes and jeans with holes in them. I say this because I used his sermon as a source of research.
He said that this psalms has been called an enveloped psalms or an enclosed psalms. That means it begins the way it ends. He starts it by writing “blessing the Lord then he ends it by blessing the Lord. Bless the lord of my soul” and “he closes with saying my soul has been blessed by the Lord.”
My pastor went on to call it the Hallelujah of all Psalms.
Because all David does is praise the Lord. Notice he does not ask for anything. He is not trying to reason with God. He is not trying to cut a deal with God. He is not claiming anything. The only thing that he does is praise the Lord. David understands that it is important just to connect with God.
Can I encourage you all to dedicate at least once a week if not a day to take a moment to acknowledge God. Don’t go to him to remind Him of the promises He has made. Do not ask for healing again. Do not plead with Him for miracles. Just praise Him.
Thank the Lord for using me. Thank you for calling me. Thank you protecting me. Thank you loving me when I did not even love myself. When we get to thanking God we forget about complaining to God.
My Pastor said that David is saying you must not forget what the lord has done for you.
Can I tell you some of the best worship comes when I do not ask God for anything.
Notice verse 1 says All that is within me bless the Lord. All of my time I'm going to bless Lord. All of my talent that I have I'm going to bless the Lord. All that I am is the Lords. Notice David say all that I am is the Lords. Even my soul. Therefor when I give all of myself to the Lord I am able to receive His benefits. We will cover the next 3 verses then we will be done.

1.) He forgives and heals

Psalm 103:3 The Message
He forgives your sins—every one. He heals your diseases—every one.
As you read the scripture pay attention to how he puts those two things in the same scripture. He forgives and he heals. Because as great as it is to be healed from cancer and as amazing as it is to be healed of covid by far the greatest healing that we ever recieved is from sin. His forgiveness saves us from eternal damnation. We have seen God use a lot of people to heal others. But only one can save your soul. Only one has the authority to heal your sin sickness.

2.) He redeems

Psalm 103:4 NKJV
Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
When he redeems your life he is also crowning you. David is telling us that
He is saying after I save you I am going to guide you faithfulness and love. Understand

3.) He can then satisfy

Psalm 103:5 NKJV
Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
David says that he was living a life of destruction before God intervened. Can anybody attest to God stepping in changing the trajectory of your life. I know that before I met the lord I was heading one way. Like the old school likes to say But God. Which means but God intervened. But when the Lord caught me everything changed. David is saying that He redeemed his life from destruction. When you have trouble praising God just think about where you deserve to be.
Strength is renewed like an eagle. Why is that important? Because eagles are the birds that are strong enough to fly through the storm. Just because it seems really rough right now. Does not mean he is going to bring you out of the storm you are in. Remember Psalm 55 David said that he desired to have wings like a morning dove so that he may fly away from the storm. Fly away from my issues and problems. But God desires to give us wings like eagle so that we would be strong enough to fly through the storm. To cut through the winds to shore through storm. Im telling you God is trying to build some strong Christian men and women. He is trying to equip and arm us. But we have to understand His benefits.

Conclusion

Story of worn out shoes blue jeans with holes in them.
Bless the Lord for my kids blue jeans with holes in them. Because some parent wish there kids could wear out shoes and make blues jeans with holes in it.
Bless the Lord for my job even though it is not perfect. Some one is praying to have a job like yours.
Bless the Lord for my imperfect marriage. Because someone is praying to have a marriage like yours.
Bless the Lord for my kids. Because someone is praying to have kids to raise.
Bless the Lord for my imperfect home because it someone is praying to have own or even rent out home like yours.
So as you gather around the Thanksgiving table in person or virtual I want to encourage to find thing to be thankful for.
