Celebrating His Presence

Introduction:
I hope that you have been deeply impacted by the preaching and follow up small group studies as part of this series, “Regarding Jesus”. I have listed to a few of the sermons leading up to this week and have been challenged and encouraged by the teaching of the Word. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be part of the series as we look at the concept of the presence of Christ together.
As I read through the Part 10 of the book, I was struck by a question the author posed in chapter 59. He asks, “Can people living in the world today actually encounter, and enjoy the in-person presence of the divine-human Person — the God-Man, Jesus Christ?”
As anonymous & Friends wrote this section they presented some great truths about Christ. Chapter 59 reminds us of Christs present location, seating at the right hand of God in heaven. We are reminded of Christ’s promise to the disciples to always be with them, to the end of the age. Chapter 60 reminded us of Christ’s ability to keep these promises by presenting us with the deity of Christ as being one with the Father and His attribute of omnipresence.

Main text:
Romans 8:9–11 ESV
You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
