Cleveland Loved Mrs. Kay

Mr. Cleveland was head over heals for Mrs. Kay. He pampered her, worried about her, and cared for her to the very end. Mr Cleveland found great joy in spoiling her with gifts and services. Often times He would buy her a gift certificate to buy something nice and she would be reluctant to get it because it was too expensive. He wanted her to have anything she wanted.
When Mrs. Kay wanted to do something, Mr. Cleveland made sure to take the time to accommodate her. For example, When Mrs. Kay wanted to go to the beach he would take her. I know he wasn’t particularly fond of the beach but because Mrs. Kay wanted to go, He would take her and the boys.
Whenever, Mrs. Kay would have any type of medical issue, He would call me and ask if we could sit down and have a word of prayer for her. He worried about her well-being because he loved her very deeply
When Mrs. Kay’s health began to deteriorate, Mr. Cleveland cared for him at the expense of his own health. He felt like no one could care for her as well as he could. He cared for her as long as he could and never gave up.
Mr. Cleveland was a good husband and a good man!

Cleveland Loved His Boys

Johnny and Chris were her pride and joy. He often talked about how much he loved them, and how he did such a good job in raising them. He said that they followed in his footsteps with the type of work that they did. He said that they would be successful because of their work ethic. He would always talk about how hard Chris and Johnny work.
Mr. Cleveland also like to spend time hunting and fishing with the boys. Chris tells the story of a hunt where he killed a good size buck at the end of a hunt. Mr Cleveland was through hunting and wanted to go to the house. Chris told him that he had killed a small deer. Mr. Cleveland got on him pretty good because now they had to do something with this little deer and he didn’t want to fool with it. When they got to the deer he saw that it was a good size deer and he beamed with pride that his son had killed a good deer.
Johnny always admired how Mr. Cleveland put others before himself. If anyone needed something Mr. Cleveland was always there to help and expected nothing in return.
The thing that shows me the love that Mr. Cleveland had for the boys is the time they spent together. There was rarley a week that went by that they did not see one another.
Mr. Cleveland was a good man and a good father.

Cleveland Loved His Church

He is one of the founding members of this church. He was faithful to attend and support the church as long as he could. He even came to church when he wasn’t suppose to. He got to a point where he did not need to drive, but he would always find the keys and come down to the church. He may be 2 hours early, but he just knew that he had to be at church.
He was instrumental in every phase of the church growth. His desire was to see Prospect Baptist Church thrive. He told Warren that his wish was to see the completion of the new sanctuary before he died. Not only did he see it built, but he also saw it get paid off. I don’t know which one thrilled him the most.
Warren tells the story about the outhouse that the church used to have. They were going to destroy the outhouse, but Mr. Cleveland told them not to because he wanted people to remember where they came from.
He served faithfully as a deacon in this church. And when I say serve, I mean serve. Deacon was not just a title to him. He cared for the people on his deacon list and served them well.
Mr Cleveland was a good man and a good servant for the church

Cleveland Loved His Community

I found out that Mr. Cleveland was the one who started the volunteer fire department. He not only started it but served in various capacities with in the department. Warren tells that there was a time that the fire department had fallen on troubled times and Mr. Cleveland took it upon himself to get it turned around. He knew that this are needed a fire department.
He also served on the CEWSA water board. He cared about his community and found opportunities to serve his communities.
Mr. Cleveland was a good man and a good public servant!

Cleveland Loved Me

He had the uncanny way of knowing when I was discouraged. He would always pull up at my office and just spend time with me and encourage me. He has talked me off of many ledges
I would always look to him for wisdom. Any time I would come up with a crazy idea for the church or personally, I would always bounce it off of him because he was not shy of telling me that it was dumb idea. He would also give me advice on how to be a better husband and father. He constantly told me to spend more time with them and less time at the office. He said that I could not minister a church if I did not minister to my family first. He was right.
He gave me opportunity to fulfill my calling to the ministry. He was the one who called me and ask if I would consider pastoring the church. I initially told him no because I was doing well in corporate finance. He said he would pray about that. HE WON!
He taught me how to weep in prayer. Mr. Cleveland was a man’s man, but when he prayed for someone who was lost or hurting he would always weep. The emotion he poured in to his prayer is something that he taught me to do.
Mr. Cleveland was a good man and a good friend.

Cleveland Loved Jesus

He knew his Savior well! He would talk and walk with him daily. When ever I would go visit him and Mrs. Kay I could not leave without voicing a prayer.
Tell story about praying a week before he died.
Mr. Cleveland was a good man and a good Christian.
