Intro
Intro
Last week we introduced the sermon on the mount from Luke’s perspective
This week we finish it- a bunch of mini sermons
What it takes to obtain the beatitudes- I want to inherit the kingdom
The Original Command of Jesus
The Original Command of Jesus
I got robbed this week and then I read this and now I don’t know how to feel
this seems simple at first but the truth in this passage is pretty deep and difficult
what does it mean to truly do good?
what I have is not my own, its given to me that I might glorify God
show mercy and do good as he does
Judging Others
Judging Others
this is a dangerous passage
many health and wealth doctrines will stem from this
Jesus does not mean that this will happen immediately or even in this life
He means that God is the judge not man and for your good and your understanding of his power and mercy, you will be given the same
who am I to lead or who am I to deal with the evil in another
these things are God’s place not mine
A Tree and Its Fruit
A Tree and Its Fruit
what does good fruit mean?
fruit of the spirit
be a force multiplier for God’s good
Build Your House on the Rock
Build Your House on the Rock
the word is the foundation
everything in your life is meant to be built on these things and the things that come from them
if your foundation is the good that Jesus has taught, then what you produce will be from that good
these are the things that are unchanging and unshaken and so too will you be
Application
Application
a group of people who have been told that they can do no good and who are the farthest from the kingdom of heaven
Jesus tells them that they are the closest
and more than that, he tells them that the qualifiers for the kingdom, for closeness to God, for good, are possible for them
to live as though God is the only good, and all I have I use to glorify him, I begin with him and I end with him
