Intro

Stop the Hunger: a Sunday series that has tried to tackle how we can take STEPS to Reestablish a Healthy Diet of God’s Word.
FIVE AREAS OF HEALING & RESTORATION:
Identity
Fear
Shame & Guilt
Loneliness
Sickness
WHAT IS YOUR ANTICIPATION FOR TODAY?
Why we need God’s view of our Identity...
“The more we focus on who we are in Christ, the less it matters who we were in the past, or even what happened to us.“ Joyce Myers, Beauty for Ashes: Receiving Emotional Healing
When I looked up quotes on “poor-identity” or “poor self-esteem“ my searches always came back about topics on poverty.
“…we behave out of our understanding of our identity in Christ.” Shelley Hendrix, On Purpose for a Purpose
Money doesn’t bring a better sense of self-esteem, as one can be rich and still have a a poverty mentality.

18 There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection].
2 tim.1.7
2 Timothy 1:7 (AMPC)
7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.

6 Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that [c]comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].

5 Don’t be obsessed with money but live content with what you have, for you always have God’s presence. For hasn’t he promised you, “I will never leave you alone, never! And I will not loosen my grip on your life!”
This is where we double back and meditate on our IDENTITY in Christ and reaffirm whose we are not who we are.
sickness (n.)
`sik-nis
1: the state of being ill or unhealthy.
2: a disordered, weakened, or unsound condition
YHWH (יהוה, yhwh). The personal name of Israel’s covenant God in the Old Testament meaning “to be”
New Dictionary of Biblical Theology (Yahweh the Healer)
Throughout the OT, Yahweh’s role as healer is paramount: ‘I, Yahweh, am your healer’ (Exod. 15:26
ex.15.26
Exodus 15:26 (NLT)
26b “...for I am the Lord who heals you.”
New Dictionary of Biblical Theology (Yahweh the Healer)
In the NT, the role of God as healer is confirmed over and over.
Healing is a sign of the kingdom of God breaking into the neighborhood.
Matt. 11:2-5
Matthew 11:2–5 NLT
2 John the Baptist, who was in prison, heard about all the things the Messiah was doing. So he sent his disciples to ask Jesus, 3 “Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?” 4 Jesus told them, “Go back to John and tell him what you have heard and seen— 5 the blind see, the lame walk, those with leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.”
The reader is reminded that behind the healing ministry of Jesus and his followers stands the healer of the OT—still Yahweh in the NT.
Especially in the Gospels and Acts, that restoration is typically mediated, first through Jesus and then through his disciples and witnesses.
HEAR THESE SCRIPTURES.
VISUALIZE HEALING as THESE SCRIPTURES FLOW OVER YOU.
SENSE YOUR HOPE BEING FILLED TO THE BRIM AND RUNNING OVER.
RECEIVE THE RESTORATION POWER FROM YAHWEH—The Lord that Heals!

Is. 53.3-5
Isaiah 53:3–5 (AMPC)
He was despised and rejected and forsaken by men, a Man of sorrows and pains, and acquainted with grief and sickness; and like One from Whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or have any esteem for Him.
Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
Not all sickness is equal...
EXAMPLE: NOT ALL FLOUR, EGGS, AND SUGAR MAKES CAKE!
Pie? Cinnamon rolls? Croissants?
LIKEWISE… all sickness falls under
1 Peter 2:24 NET
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we may cease from sinning and live for righteousness. By his wounds you were healed.
A Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature, 3rd ed. (ἰάομαι)
“healed” in the Greek is to restore someone to health after a physical malady, heal, cure lit. τινά someone Lk 5:17
This literally means the “Vessel” of a person.
But there are instances in the Word that some sickness is caused by
a spirit of infirmity while other
illnesses from our fallen state of being born in a world of sin...
while even another cause of sickness comes from...
Unforgiveness that causes a Root of Bitterness.
So although, it’s all sickness like desserts varying with the same ingredients of Flour, eggs, sugar—
NOT ALL SICKNESS IS restored the same way.
So as you hear these scriptures be discerning and have faith when they speak to your individual need.
Let God’s Spirit work in you today!
for healing and deliverance is the dinner bell to the Gospel!!!

prov.10.12
Proverbs 10:12 (NLT)
12 Hatred stirs up quarrels, but love makes up for all offenses.
Things that keep us from healing: Sin, Unforgiveness, and God’s Design
IN OUR CULTURE WE HAVE DECLARED THAT IF I DON’T GET MY WAY THEN SOMEONE HAS TRAMPLED ON MY RIGHTS—WE HAVE FORGOTTEN GOD’S DESIGN FOR “ME”
Joh. 9.1-3
John 9:1–3 NLT
1 As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. 2 “Rabbi,” his disciples asked him, “why was this man born blind? Was it because of his own sins or his parents’ sins?” 3 “It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.
Joh.9:6-9
John 9:6–9 NLT

So the man went and washed and came back seeing! 8 His neighbors and others who knew him as a blind beggar asked each other, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and beg?” 9 Some said he was, and others said, “No, he just looks like him!” But the beggar kept saying, “Yes, I am the same one!”
Acts 10.34-35
Acts 10:34–35 (GWT)
34 Then Peter said, “Now I understand that God doesn’t play favorites. 35 Rather, whoever respects God and does what is right is acceptable to him in any nation.
TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION!

Make it personal

2 Corinthians 6:1-5 MSG
1-5 Companions as we are in this work with you, we beg you, please don’t squander one bit of this marvelous life God has given us. God reminds us,
I heard your call in the nick of time; The day you needed me, I was there to help.
Well, now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped. Don’t put it off; don’t frustrate God’s work by showing up late, throwing a question mark over everything we’re doing. Our work as God’s servants gets validated—or not—in the details. People are watching us as we stay at our post, alertly, unswervingly . . .
