Intro

Uncle Harold, as I have always known Him,

He was a “Loafer”

He Loved to burn up the roads, didn’t he?!
Whether it be to visit His Family, to make it to the nearest Waffle House, taking the girls to six flags, or just to punch it going over a hill like a roller coaster.
He Loved to keep the roads hot!

He was a “Talker”

Most of my memories with Uncle Harold revolve around conversations that either I ,or my dad, had with Him
He

He was “Confident”

I have heard stories, some from family situations and some from work trips, of Uncle Harold stepping into places where most people wouldn’t dare go if He believed in what He was doing!

He was “Kind”

He was “Loyal”

In the difficult seasons of life, when many would have thrown in the towel, He persisted. Though this loyalty took many forms, it remained in tack.

He was “Unwavering” in His Faith

Share Story of Visit
As many of You know, I have lived in East Alabama for more than 13 years now, and unfortunately, i have not been as intentional as i should have been in staying in touch with everyone in our family. This burdens me greatly.
With this in mind, It shocked me last week, when my dad reached out and told me that Uncle Harold was asking to see me.
He told me the situation, and asked if i could make it up for a visit. I was afraid that i wouldn’t make it in time, but a few days later, last Wednesday, i was able to break away.
I stopped and picked up my dad, and we rode over. We were welcomed by Andrea, and went inside.
Uncle Harold didn’t take long to share with me why He had asked to see me.“Is all of this going to keep me from Heaven?” he asked a few times. Is all of what, uncle Harold? Then I realized what He was asking. “Is Hospice going to keep me from going to Heaven?”You see, He was afraid that He was sinfully attempting to take on the role of God.
and While, I assured Him that His Salvation was secured, It was such a breathe of fresh air.
What do you mean?
Well, you may not realize this, but many people in our world today are consumers, takers, they never leave the stage that my toddler Sam is in right, the “Mine” stage.
But the spiritual fruit and repentance that Uncle Harold displayed to me in that visit, gave me all that i need to stand before you today confident in His eternal destination.
I have had to preach many funerals in which i could not make that claim.
I believe that He knew that
Romans 3:23 ESV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Do you believe that you are Spiritually Broken?
I believe that He knew that
Romans 5:8 ESV
8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Even in Uncle Harold’s brokenness, mistakes, and shortcomings, Jesus loved him enough to Die for Him!
He loved you that much too! Jesus thinks that you are worth more than you think your worth
Uncle Harold knew that His sin was great! That Bible Says that:
Romans 6:23 ESV
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Praise God for that free Gift!
This is probably the part where your thinking, I wish this guy would hurry up and finish. but stay with me, If that’s you, then you’re the one that i’m talking to.
You don’t have to stay where you are. You don’t have to hate your life. You don’t have to constantly doubt. All of that Anxiety, All of that Fear, All of that Misery can be overcome!
Matthew 6:25–26 ESV
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Jesus Cares deeply about you, and He wants to save your life!
But He will only show you the door, You have to walk through it!
Share Gospel
Romans 10:9–10 ESV
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Matthew 4:19 ESV
19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
I can stand before you today, knowing two things.
Uncle Harold has been reunited with family and loved ones who have gone before Him to Heaven
He wants you to join them when your day comes.
With the current state of your heart towards God, Will you Join them?
Uncle Harold, We already miss you. You have meant so much to all of us, and we can’t wait to see you again!

“Loafer” on Brother!
