Call to Worship:
We are gathered here to worship God and to witness the marriage vows of Mattie Whittinghill & Braydon Satterfield.
Giving of the Bride:
Pastor: Who will give this woman to be married to this man?
Father: Her mother and I.
You may be seated.
Invocation:
Living, Triune God. May this ceremony be pleasing in Your sight and bring to us Your blessing. Amen.
Charge:
Dearly beloved, we are gathered together in the sight of God to join together this man and woman in holy matrimony. It is an honorable estate, instituted of God, signifying unto us the mystical union that is between Christ and His church, that holy estate Christ adorned and beautified with His presence and first miracle in Cana of Galilee. It is commended in the Scriptures to be honorable among all, and therefore is not by any to be entered into lightly, but reverently, and in the fear of God. Into this holy estate these two persons present come now to be joined.
Homily:
When Jesus was asked “Which command is the most important of all?” In Mark 12:30-31 Jesus answered that question by saying:
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
31 The second is, Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other command greater than these.”
Now, you are not only neighbors but you are husband and wife according to scripture there is no earthly relationship more important.
So knowing that the two of you love each other. Follow the words of Christ and if you want to love your spouse better. Love God better. Love your spouse with everything in you and you can do that better and better everyday that you love God with everything in you.
Declaration of Intent:
We will now give the rings.
Bless, O Lord, these rings that as Braydon and Mattie wear them they may abide in Your peace and continue in Your favor, unto their life’s end, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Do you Braydon take Mattie to be your wedded wife? Will you honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse, in sadness and in joy, to have, to love and to cherish forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto her, till death do you part?
