The Issue of Spiritual Blindness

Man born blindJohn 9:1 “... he saw a man blind from birth.”

We are all born with spiritual blindness (the inability or unwillingness to perceive the truth of the Gospel).

The inability to perceive the truth of the Gospel because of sin

Our sin brings spiritual deadness

The inability to perceive the truth of the Gospel because of Satan

2 Corinthians 4:3-4 “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.”

Unwillingness to perceive the truth of the Gospel

Pride- Pharisee’s Had an unwillingness to see. John 9:41

James 4:6 “But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

To let go of all your personal striving to please God based upon your efforts and your own works, and admit your need for a Savior to do all the work for you, takes real humility. The Need of Divine assistance

1 Corinthians 2:14 “The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.”

Proverbs 4:19 “The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.”

Obtaining Spiritual Clarity

Jesus brings clarity

He is Supernatural (Unconventional)

“Get used to different” (Chosen TV series)

It will take a lifetime to get to know God. But, If we miss the point that God is supernatural, we will never truly understand the truth of the Gospel.

Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

He is Creator God can create you a new mind , new heart, a new whatever. Just like He created Man from the dust

Obedience brings clarity

John 9:7 “...So he went and washed and came back seeing.”

The clarity is connected to obedience

Ex: Escape room (one truth leads to another until you solve the mystery and get the key to get out)

Walking in Spiritual Clarity

Don’t be ashamed

John 9:11 “...The man called Jesus made mud and anointed my eyes...”

Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”

Develop an Attitude of Worship!

John 9:38 “He said, “Lord, I believe, and he worshiped him.”

when we truly see and understand what has happened, we ought to fall on our faces and worship God!!
