A Gathering of Worshippers
A Gathering of Worshippers
a. Give Thanks for God’s steadfast love (hesed). His faithful mercy.
b. Picture a group of pilgrims assembling for the feast at the Temple and telling what God has done for them.
2. The Wilderness Wanderers – verses 4-9 (David)
a. They were lost in the journey. They are lonely and destitute.
i. Have you ever been so hungry you could faint?
ii. Our honeymoon in Mexico first night.
iii. Do you feel empty and lost? Turn to the Lord.
b. God leads them to a safe haven (a city).
c. God satisfies the hungry soul.
3. The Repentant Prisoners – verses 10-16 (Samson)
a. Some rebelled against God’s Word and experienced His discipline.
b. They are unwilling captives.
c. There is no prison like the prison of sin.
d. God is merciful when they cry out in repentance.
e. God delivers the captives
i. He has broken the bars of sin and death.
4. The Despairing Diseased – verses 17-22 (Naaman)
a. Some are fools by seeking their way apart from God.
b. They draw near to death.
c. They cry out to the Lord and receive healing
d. Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love!
5. The Storm-Tossed Sailors – verses 23-32 (The Disciples in the boat)
a. They are going about their business as best they can. They even recognize God’s mighty power in the sea.
b. God causes the storm.
i. Sometimes God brings events in our lives to cause us to recognize our need for Him.
c. They are at their wit’s end. Then they turn to the Lord.
i. Canoeing with Hudson and Starla.
d. He made the storm be still and quieted the waves.
e. He brought them to their desired haven (their focus changed to praise instead of business)
2. The ONLY WAY out is to LOOK UP to God!
