Intro

Last week we looked at the tyradgic Romans 9. It details how God chose Israel to be His people out of all the other nations. Showered them with blessings and through them brought the savior of the world, Jesus Christ, into the world.
yet at he very hour of their glory they hardened rtheir hrarts and reject Jesus, even having Him crucified.
However, their fall, though tradgic for them, resulted in uncoutible riches for us Gentiles.
Romans 11:12 AV
12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
Israel is a man who is told to cross a great desert, for many days, enduring the blsing heart and suffering cold nights. Who reaches the other side where a deep well is filled with live saving water. He lowers a bucket and fills it and then painfully, with blistered hand draws up the water. And at the moment of his deliverance when he can drink of the water and find life and reward and renewal, cats the bucket aside and goes back into thr desert, while we the gentiles, who did nothing, are free to drink from Israels labour.
No wonder Jesus said:
John 4:22 AV
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
For now, God is building His Church, but He has not forsaken Israel.
Romans 11:26 AV
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
How is this remnant to be saved?
They had their Messiah with them and rejected Him, what could possible get through to them?
Well my frinds, once again God shows Gis wisdom.
For us Gentiles salvation is of the Jews, yet for the jews, Salvation is of the Gentiles - Why do I say that? Because as Gentiles, reaping the fruit of seeds sown by the Jews, each and every one of us us a duty to the Jews.
God says:
Romans 11:11 AV
11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
The glory of God trhat dwelt on Israel has departed because of her unbelif.
1 Samuel 4:22 AV
22 And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.
That same glory has come to dwell on the Church of Jesus Christ
John 11:40 AV
40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
We, the church, each of us as Christians should make every Jew jelous of the fact that the glory of God now dwells with us through Jesus Christ, the Messiah they rejected.
How do we make them Jelous? thats easy, by boasting.
now boasting is normally not a good thing. We teach our children NOT to boast.
Bellas handsome dad.
But in the Spiritual sence Paul encouraged us to boast, not of ourselves, but of the riches that are our through Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:31 ESV
31 so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
Lets think abnout this: How can we as Gentiles boast about Jesus in a way that would provoke Israel to Jealousy?
I can think of only way: To show how much better the New Covenenat, that we have, is over the Old Covenant.
Old Vs New
The Old Covenenat was by no means rubbish, it was a glorious covenenat, but the scripture afirms that the New is infinatly better than the Old.
Remember that when we talking about Christianity and Judaism, we are not talking about different religios with different God’s.
My God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the exact same God that the Jews serve.
The differance is Jesus Christ. And what a differtence he makes.
Hebrews 8:6 AV
6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
Jesus Christ is a better Hight Priest than Arron, because Arron as a sinner and died, but Jesus lives forever.
Hebrews 7:24 AV
24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
Lets look at the better promises we enjoy over the Jews because of Jesus Christ.
1: Better Accsess
Jews have accsess to God. But only once a year, and even then not them personally, but they had to ask the high priest to pray on their behalf, but he himself was a sinner so he had to enter into the holy place with a myriad of sacrifices.
Hebrews 9:7 AV
7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:
Imagnie that: Only being able to ask God for strngth, help, peace, comfort, healing one day a year, via a complete stranger.
Lets compare that to what we have through Jesus Christ:
Romans 5:2 AV
2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Hebrews 4:16 AV
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Through Jesus Christ, we can come into the Holy place of God’s presence any time, anywhere, as many times as we wish for the cutran keeping us out was ripped in two!
2: Better Forgivness
Let me explain this one. The only way God’s justice can be satisfied with a fair trade, life for life, blood for blood.
And the only way a sinner can be forgiven is by blood.
Hebrews 9:22 AV
22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
Both the Old and New Covenents are covenant based on the shedding of blood. But the blood itself is very very different.
Under the Old covenet the blood was the blood of animals. bulls and goats.
But those are just animals, and althrough theiur blood is technically “innocent” its not powerful to remove sins.
Sheet.
thats why the bible says:
Hebrews 10:4 AV
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
But the New Covenent has infinatly better blood.
Not of bulls or goats, but of the precious Lamb of God - Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 1:18–19 AV
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Hebrews 10:19 AV
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
The blood of Jesus can do what the blood of the Old Covenent can never do: Not cover sin, but completly wash it away forever!
Because of that, the Christian can experience whwt the Jew never can - Justification - To be declared righteous by God. To be justified never sinned.
3: A Better Furure
Israels promised future was a land. The New covenent’s promised future is a kinhdom.
Israel was promised a land, Canaan. A good land to be sure, a land flowing with milk and honey, but still just a land.
A land that still had to be worked. A land that still was subject to war and invasion. A land where drought and the occasional locast swarm was still a constant threat. A land where its elderly would still die and where sickness and desease were still an every day reality.
But Jesus promises something far greater: A kingdom and not a kingdom of this world, but of Heaven.
Jesus spoke constantly about the kingdom of Heaven but His first sermon was:
Matthew 4:17 AV
17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
The kingdom is much better than the land.
The land suffers through hot and dry seasons as the sun backs down on it in the day and the cold night wraps around it in the eveing.
But a kingdom:
Revelation 21:23 AV
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
In a land you still feel pain and sorrow, but in the kingdom:
Revelation 21:4 AV
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Conclusion:
Even although we are partakers in a far better conenet than the Jews, we must not become arrogant. In enjoying all trhese blessings and proking them to jealousy we must always remeber and that although the promises we have are better than the promises of Israel, WE OURSELVES ARE NOT BETTER THAN ISRAEL.
Romans 11:17–21 AV
17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; 18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. 19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. 20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: 21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
