God Rewards His People

I. God will Reward You in Heaven for Being Persecuted.

Matthew 5:12 (KJV 1900)

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

A. You will be Reward for Doing things Secretly.

By Giving Your Alms, Money, in Secret, God will Reward You.

Matthew 6:2–4 (KJV 1900)

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

2. By Praying in Your Closet, God Will Reward You.

Matthew 6:5–6 (KJV 1900)

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

3. If You Fast Without a Sad Countenance, God Will Reward You.

Matthew 6:16–18 (KJV 1900)

16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; 18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

II. You Will be Rewarded for Helping God’s People.

A. By Receiving a Prophet or a Righteous Man, God Will Reward You.

Matthew 10:41 (KJV 1900)

41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

B. If You Give a Cup of Cold Water in the Name of a Disciple, God Will Reward You.

Matthew 10:42 (KJV 1900)

42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

C. By Loving Your Enemies, God Will Give You a Great Reward.

Luke 6:35 (KJV 1900)

35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

III. You Will Receive a Reward for Living for God.

A. By Planting and Watering, Your Will Receive a Reward for Your Labor.

1 Corinthians 3:8 (KJV 1900)

8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

B. You Will Receive a Reward of an Inheritance for Serving the Lord.

Colossians 3:24 (KJV 1900)

24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

C. Do not Cast Away Your Confidence and You Will Have a Great Recompense of a Reward.

Hebrews 10:35 (KJV 1900)

35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.

D. Diligently Seeking Him, You Will Receive a Reward.

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV 1900)

6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

E. God Promised to Reward His Servants, Prophets, Saints, Those that Fear His Name, Both Small and Great Will Receive a Reward for Having Nations Angry at You. God Will Destroy Them.

Revelation 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

IV. Jesus is Coming Quickly and Has His Reward With Him for Every Man According to hi Work.

12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
