Psalm 93
1 The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; The Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: The world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.
2 Thy throne is established of old: Thou art from everlasting.
3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord, The floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves.
4 The Lord on high is mightier Than the noise of many waters, Yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.
5 Thy testimonies are very sure: Holiness becometh thine house, O Lord, for ever.
Introduction
Many people will express tomorrow that they are thankful. But we know to whom we are thankful. Which makes this and every holiday a religious holiday for us!
Before we take time to thank Him for what He has done lets thank Him for who He is!
God is King
God is King
Psalm 93:1–2 (KJV 1900)
1 The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; The Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: The world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

Strength and majesty
A warrior King
“That’s My King,” by S. M. Lockeridge:
“I wish I could describe Him to you:
He’s indescribable,
He’s incomprehensible,
He’s invincible,
He’s irresistible,
I’m trying to tell you
The heaven of heavens cannot contain Him,
Let alone a man explain Him.
You can’t get Him out of your mind,
You can’t get Him off of your hands.
You can’t outlive Him,
And you can’t live without Him.
The Pharisees couldn’t stand Him,
but they found out they couldn’t stop Him,
Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him.
The witnesses couldn’t get their testimonies to agree,
And Herod couldn’t kill Him,
Death couldn’t handle Him,
And the grave couldn’t hold Him.
That’s my King!
He always has been,
And He always will be.
I’m talking about
He had no predecessor,
and He’ll have no successor,
There was nobody before Him,
and there’ll be nobody after Him,
You can’t impeach Him,
and He’s not going to resign.
That’s my King!
Praise the Lord,
That’s my King! ¹
World is established
World is established
Things seem to be in cauos but all the things that really matter are under His control. They are not being moved.
James A. Garfield, the future President of the United States, was in New York City on April 17, 1865, just two days after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. There, Garfield encountered a mob quite angry that the beloved Lincoln had been assassinated. Garfield stepped forward and gave a speech which concluded with these words: “Fellow citizens! God reigns and the government in Washington still lives.”
God is Mighty
God is Mighty
Psalm 93:3–4 (KJV 1900)
3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord, The floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves.
4 The Lord on high is mightier Than the noise of many waters, Yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.
Life here is storm-tossed and filled with danger, but God is mightier than the waves.
Life here is storm-tossed and filled with danger, but God is mightier than the waves.
Mark 4:41 “And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
‘You remember the God of Psalm 93? The One who’s mightier than the waves? This Lord Jesus Christ is that God.’
Right now you can be at a place of peace and comfort because God is mightier than the waves.
On Thursday I will take the most glorious of naps after the Turkey. It takes more than tryptophan for a good nap. It takes the knowledge that God reigns. That is why I am calling that nap glorious.
God is good
God is good
5 Thy testimonies are very sure: Holiness becometh thine house, O Lord, for ever.
The psalmist is teaching you that God is not only mighty, He’s not only sovereign, but God the King acts with integrity, and He is faithful, righteous and good.
God’s Word never changes.
Holiness is fitting for God’s house
God has made us a holy people. We are set apart for a specific purpose. That is to worship Him.
Let’s do that at this time! Let’s worship Him in His hoiness by giving testimony of His goodness in our lives.
It Is Well with My Soul. Look at the first stanza.
“When peace, like a river, attends my way…”
You almost have this picture of this pastoral, slow-moving river – and peace. And now listen to the next image:
“When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, He has taught me to say,
‘It is well, it is will with my soul.’”
Now why is my soul well?
Now why is my soul well?
Because God reigns!
Because God is mighty!
God is good!
