"The Audacity to Hope," given by his then-pastor, Dr. Jeremiah Wright, almost 20 years ago
2004 Democratic National Convention
Hebrews 11:1 CSB
1 Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.
I believe we can give middle class relief and provide working families with a road to opportunity. I believe we can provide jobs to the jobless, homes to the homeless, and reclaim young people in cities across America from violence and despair. I believe that we have a righteous wind at our backs, and that as we stand on the crossroads of history, we can make the right choices and meet the challenges that face us.
Hebrews 11:3 CSB
3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible.
Our Hope rests in Who we place our Faith In
ABLE, ENOCH, NOAH, ABRAHAM, SARA, Isaach Rahab, Jospeh,**
Advent is a season where we rejoice in God’s fulfillment in his messianic promise in Jesus first coming while patiently waiting Christ’s second coming and the consummation of His Kingdom.
It is in our Faith in what God has promised in Jesus that we have hope.
Isaiah 9:6–7 CSB
6 For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the Lord of Armies will accomplish this.
God Revealed That the Messiah would be Born in then line of David

or the staff from between his feet

until he whose right it is comes,

and the obedience of the peoples belongs to him.

Micah 5:2 CSB
2 Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are small among the clans of Judah; one will come from you to be ruler over Israel for me. His origin is from antiquity, from ancient times.
Romans 8:18–25 CSB
18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation for God’s sons to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility—not willingly, but because of him who subjected it—in the hope 21 that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage to decay into the glorious freedom of God’s children. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains until now. 23 Not only that, but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits—we also groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. 24 Now in this hope we were saved, but hope that is seen is not hope, because who hopes for what he sees? 25 Now if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with patience.
Patiently waiting the fulfillment of our Hope in the Promise of Christ’s return.
As believers we do not have the audacity to hope, we have the confident assurance of hope.
