“THANKS, IM GOOD”

1 Timothy 6:3–10 (ESV)
If anyone teaches a different doctrine and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that accords with godliness, he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions, and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain. But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

MSG TITLE: “THANKS, IM GOOD”

PRAY

“Thanks, I’m GOOD”.
There are some things in isolation that work well. But there are some things that work well in combination. For example.
I feel as though the Lord gave me two words this past week or so around this holiday. One a little more obviouys… and one that iinda goes with it.
THANKFUL & CONTENT.
**its kind of like a cinnamon Roll.... without the icing - it just doest make it as good - and its the same with the icing you wouldnt want that on its own. THEY GO WELL TOEGTHER!
These HOLY SPIRIT, NEW TESTAMENT BELIEVER ATTRIBUTES arent things we DO. they are THINGS WE BE. ITS A STATE OF BEING.

1.BE THANKFUL.

THANKS!
THANKFULNESS IS THE MARK OF A TRUE BELIEVER.
We have just celebrated THANKSGIVING. It’s a time where we come together and we GIVE thanks. The problem with it is that its a holiday not a lifestyle. I love it but the reality is that you and me we are called to LIVE LIVES OF CONTINUAL THANKFULNESS BEFORE GOD.
BUT WE ALL THROUGH SCRIPTURE that Thankfulness is a THREADED and INTERWOVEN into the LIVES OF THE PEOPLE OF GOD.
Some great verses for thanksgiving weekend: are you ready?
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!" (Psalm 107:1)
"I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High." (Psalm 7:17)
"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."(Philippians 4:6)
"And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful." (Colossians 3:15)
What are you thankful for?
WRITE THIS DOWN: a Heart of THANKFULNESS flows from a REVELATON of GRACE.

2.BE CONTENT.

Contentment says something like this “im good” / Im satisfied with where i am at.
1 Timothy 6:6 “But godliness with contentment is great gain,”
Easton’s Bible Dictionrary defines contentment this way:…….Contentment—a state of mind in which one’s desires are confined to his lot whatever it may be (1 Tim. 6:6; 2 Cor. 9:8). It is opposed to envy (James 3:16), avarice (Heb. 13:5), ambition (Prov. 13:10), anxiety (Matt. 6:25, 34), and repining (1 Cor. 10:10). It arises from the inward disposition, and is the offspring of humility, and of an intelligent consideration of divine providence (Ps. 96:1, 2; 145), the greatness of the divine promises (2 Pet. 1:4), and our own unworthiness (Gen. 32:10); as well as from the view the gospel opens up to us of rest and peace hereafter (Rom. 5:2).
Hebrews 13:4-6 “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?””
Write this down: “NO ONE HAS EVERYTHING, BUT EVERYONE HAS SOMETHING”
Start there. Ackwlowedge what God has already given you. Believe in FAITH to grow but don’t grow discont with what you have NOW.
Oh ya cant be THANKFUL FOR EVERYTHING BUT I GURANTEE THERES SOMETHING YOU CAN BE THANKFUL FOR!
Theres something you can be CONTENT IN!
THINGS WE SHOULD ALWAYS BE CONTENT WITH:

*OUR WALK WITH JESUS. He is always enough.

i have a question for you:
IS JESUS ENOUGH?
(if that offends you let me ask you a different way for all you stuck in yoru way christians in the room)
IS JESUS STILL ENOUGH?
… OSwald Chambers writes of contentment in his devotional’s often: Are you severely troubled right now? Are you afraid and confused by the waves and the turbulence God sovereignly allows to enter your life? Have you left no stone of your faith unturned, yet still not found any well of peace, joy, or comfort? Does your life seem completely barren to you? Then look up and receive the quiet contentment of the Lord Jesus.

*OUR CALLING FROM THE LORD: When God calls you - The phone just keeps ringing, When you’re called, your called!

2 Timothy 1:9 “who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,”
Romans 11:29 “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.”
What your called to do first and foremost is to love and live for Jesus. To be found in His presence. to Be apart of his Kingdom BECOMING Here on EARTH. But your specific calling, thats for you. thats YOUR GOD GIVEN GOD DESIGNED PURPOSE. and thats WORTH BEING CONTENT IN!

*OUR SPOUSE HE’s GIVEN US:

Proverbs 19:14 “14 House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.”
My earthly dad gave me many things but i prayed and i know my WIFE came from the Lord.
*Jill is my A & my Z and my Everything in between. Shes my starting point and my end.
our spouses are a gift from God, but they are unchanging. Youve got one spouse - be content in that!
(i think that Goes for Family too!!!!)

*OUR SELVES:

You’ve only Got what you got. But what you’ve GOT. Is exactly ENOUGH FOR THE FATHER.
This is what our generation needs to HEAR. God is PLEASED WITH THEM. They dont Neeed FOLLOWERS and FILTERS to BE SEEK CONTENTMENT.
God made you. He’s pleased with you. You are not DEFICIENT N THE EYES OF GOD.
Doesnt matter what some PERSON Said OF YOU. its NOT WHAT GOD SPEAKS OVER YOU IN HS WORD.
CLOSE: they spur each other on
one breeds the other.
one feeds the other.
One produces the other.
