Advent Walk 2021

Isaiah 40:3-5
Isaiah 40:3–5 ESV
A voice cries: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
This prophecy was given at a time of exile and desperation. God tells the prophet in verse 1 to speak encouragement.
The beginning of this beautiful prophecy in verse 3 speaks of John the Baptist.
Mark 1:4 ESV
John appeared, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
Every obstacle would be removed. The wall between humanity and God would be destroyed via the cross.
Colossians 1:20
Colossians 1:20 ESV
and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
Christmas is a celebration of the invasion of God into this world to set us free. Praise God.
1 Corinthians 15: 55-57
1 Corinthians 15:55–57 ESV
“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
