Paul adds three defining clauses setting out the marks of membership: the experience of the Spirit of God, the right attitude towards Jesus Christ, and the refusal to rely on oneself.

Beware of those who rob your joy

People who run in packs.

They don’t think for themselves

They don’t wait for the good

They celebrate short term success that short circuits long term impact

People whose “good deeds” provided a stumbling block.

People who demand more than is required.

Joy comes from:

truly understanding how much Jesus loves you.

truly appreciating what you gain far outweighs what you may lose following Jesus.

truly experiencing the power God is working in you.
