“IT’S TIME FOR AN UPGRADE”
Isaiah 60:15 - 18
There comes a time when you need to upgrade
Our natural and spiritual lives have suffered in this pandemic
You cannot get with your brother, and sisters or the ministry because your spiritual system is running slow. You are holding yourself back, you think it’s with word, you think it’s the preacher, but you need an upgrade
Sometimes you need God to just make you over because you’ve been mishandled, dropped, broken
Upgrades cost you, but the cost of not upgrading is much more
You have to go to the original manufacturer when you need an upgrade, not some unauthorized retailer for your upgrade
ICEBREAKER:
8 Things You Must Believe About Christ:
Opening Question: What makes you a Christian?
Have you ever heard a statement like this in some form:
Jesus was a good teacher, nothing more
Jesus is just one of many prophets or teachers
Jesus is part of a religion that I cannot get with
You must know what you believe about Christ. Without Christ Christians can claim no knowledge of God. He came and made God known to us.
1 John 4:1 - 6
1 John 4:1–6 ESV
1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. 4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
He is God eternal:
Genesis 1:1 - That Hebrew word for God is the plural form meaning God in plurality.
Genesis 1:26 - Let us make man in our image after our likeness.
John 1:1 - 3 - He was in the beginning and was involved in creation of the world.
He was virgin born:
Isaiah 7:14; 9:6 - The prophet foretold of His birth and also called Him “Mighty God” again confirming His deity.
Matthew 1:18 - 21 - It was the father’s responsibility to name the child that is why God told Joseph that His paternal rights.
Galatians 4:4 - 7 - He had to be born under the law in order to redeem us from the law, so we could become sons & daughters of God.
Incarnation: (God in human form)
John 1:1-5, 14 – Our life is in Christ. His light gives me life and the ability to combat the darkness of this world.
Philippians 2:1-11 – He is our example on how to live as a Christian
John 18:37; Matthew 27:11 – He is the true King.
Sinless:
Isaiah 53:3-6, He bore all our sin. John 18:38 – Even Pilate a secular politician found no fault in Him.   2 Corinthians 5:20, 21 – Our lives are to be an exchange with His because of what He has done for us.  1 John 1:5-7, (8-10). There is no darkness in Him, and if we walk with Him we should seek to have no darkness in us.
Crucified:
Matthew 27:45-61; Romans 6:1-11,(12-14) – Because of His death, burial, and resurrection we have a promise of power to live new lives now and for eternity. Galatians 2:20, 21 – We now live by faith and not be the law.
Resurrection: (Jesus the man died)
Romans 6:4, 5 – His resurrection symbolizes our new life in Him.
1 Corinthians 15:12-19 – If Christ is not resurrected then we have no hope of resurrection and a new life.
Colossians 3:1-4 – If we are raised with Him then we seek those things which are above.
Savoir of the World: (And give us eternal life)
John 3:16, 17 (18-21) – He came to save the world and give eternal life to those who believe.
John 3:36; 5:24; Mark 16:16; 1 John 5:9-13
He is coming back:
Acts 1:9-11, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, Matthew 16:27; 24:30; 25:31; 26:64; Revelation 1:7
Question: How has your belief in Christ changed since you came to faith.
Question: How does your faith in Christ manifest itself in your every day life?
We need to solidify our understanding of who Christ is. He really is so much more than we can fully appreciate.
