Introduction: So if the Bible says We should help the Poor, Welcome the Foreigner, Heal the Sick, Respect Others, Not Lie, Not Commit Adultery. and No Steal, then why do we support these kind of People.
Oh, we don’t actually practice these things. We Only Preach them.
I. Are You Not Doing What You Preach About?
A. How are You Treating the Poor?
1. What the Year of Jubilee says about Treating the Poor.
Exodus 23:10-11 “10 And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shalt gather in the fruits thereof: 11 But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.”
2. You are also to do it for Strangers, Foreigners.
Leviticus 19:10 “10 And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the Lord your God.”
B. How are you to Treat the Sick.
1. We are Sent to Heal the Sick.
Luke 9:2 “2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.”
2. We are to give Heath Care to Those who are Beaten or Sick.
Luke 10:30-37 “30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, 34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. 36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? 37 And he said, He that shewed…”
C. We are to Respect Everyone, Including the Poor.
James 2:3 “3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:”
D. We are Not to Lie.
1. One of the 10 Commandment is Thou Shall not Bear False Witness, Lie.
Exodus 20:16 “16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”
2. Paul Said that we are not to Lie as a Preachers.
I Timothy 2:7 “7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.”
E. We are Not to Commit Adultery as Preachers.
Exodus 20:14 “14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
II. If we do not Practice what we preach, We will become a Castaway.
I Corinthians 9:27 “27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
