Servant Leadership = a leadership philosophy that emphasizes leadership that strives to serve others, rather than accrue power or take control.
Ascribed to Pastors by many as the example of Christ…but not accurate.
Let’s look at the passage to identify this Servant - Isaiah 42:1-4

We know what it means when we DELIGHT in the LORD, but what does it mean when the LORD DELIGHTS in His SERVANT?
In whom I delight...How? By Upholding the servant. Support; ILLUS: EX 17:12 - Moses, Aaron and Hur
taw-mak = to hold securely, in moral matters or spiritual truths.

God describes His servant by the CORE ingredient - HIS Spirit; shows the difference. ILLUS: Virtuous Woman (Pro 31) vs Adulterous Woman (Pro 7)
God describes His servant by the CONDUCT of the Servant -
v.2 = doesn’t call attention to himself; doesn’t parade righteousness; doesn’t put down others…but CONSISTENTLY builds and restores relationships with God and people.
Why do I say builds and restores relationships?
v.3 - the servant is gentle = a bruised reed he will not break a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.
the “bruised reed” and the “smoldering wick” refer to the spiritually, physically, or morally weak. reed = may be damaged, but can be repaired with gentle care.
A “smoldering wick” = about to lose its fire altogether, but it can still be reignited.
God’s Servant is identified by the CORE ingredient of the Spirit and the Conduct of Gentleness and Healing.

Delegates = a person sent or authorized to represent others.
What is the LORD’S Servant delegated to do?
Delegated to bring JUSTICE = righteous behavior that is fair treatment.
He won’t falter -Bruce Schroeder, Kyle Rittenhouse Judge
He won’t be bribed - Matthew Murphy, Christopher Belter Judge
He will establish JUSTICE. Travis McMichael, Greg McMichael, and William Bryan were found guilty by the JURY; Judge not mentioned.
BECAUSE the DELEGATE, the one authorized by God, brought forth Justice.
CLOSE: Who is this Servant? Jesus!

The HOPE of the world...
The One…Whom God supports;
The One the Gospel writers wrote “The Spirit of God descended upon Him...”
The One with GENTLE conduct; healed the sick; stopped at the cry of Blind Bartimaeus; restored the woman with the issue of blood.
The One who brings JUSTICE to the poor; JUSTICE to the defenseless; JUSTICE to the oppressed.
HE IS THE ONE! The LORDS SERVANT. JESUS!
Who came to SERVE and to TAKE CONTROL (from the devil). Dominion.
And YOU can continue the work He started - Greater works than these shall you do...
All you have to do is place your HOPE in Him.
