Intro:
While it was still in the early stage of the ministry of Jesus, things were amping up. Jesus was now post conversion of the Samaritan woman and on His way to Galilee. There is no doubt that word was spreading of a man that was different. What was so different that people would be so desperate to know more of Him.
Could it be that he is the one that would free them from the bondage of Roman rule? Maybe it was that people wanted to see if He could really do the things that they had heard of about Him.
I’m sure there were a host of reasons that people came to see.
Today we will take a look at the story of a father that was in need of the touch of the Master. No matter what other people thought about Him, This father needed help.
Let’s take a look.
His Reputation Proceeded Him
His Reputation Proceeded Him
46 So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.
He had already proven Himself at the wedding.
The people had stories of what had happen at that wedding that were being told.
People must have said, “No one could do the things He did that day, was it a trick.”
Other must have said, “He must be the one that the Isaiah Prophesied of.”
A Father’s desperate cry.
He Implored Him, meaning he begged for his son who was near unto death.
Desperation will drive you to act unconventional.
without really knowing what reach Jesus had, He spoke out in the face of all that were there.
When is the last time we have cried out to Him?
Are you Holding in the pain and struggles in hopes that it will go away?
The Onlookers Were There For The Show

48 Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.”
Some of the people came just to see what was going on.
Jesus made it clear that some would only believe if they had a tangible sign.
It was had to believe for many without the signs.
What’s it going to take for you to believe.
You may be a believer in regards to salvation; my question to you is this, “What will it take for you to believe that Jesus can deliver you from your bondage and shame?”
Don’t be an onlooker.
Take Him at his word, just as the child’s father did.
When The Crisis Is Dire
When The Crisis Is Dire
49 The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies!”
He invited Jesus to engage in his problem.
Far to often Christian stand on the sideline and never invite Jesus to there house of troubles.
Just a simple invite will open a door for Jesus to intervene.
Don’t play the what if game. Invite the one that can make a difference into your situation.
How dire will the situation be before you call on Him.
This had tried everything else.
Do not wait until the troubles overwhelm you.
Faith Releases God To Action
Faith Releases God To Action
50 Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, “Your son lives!”
52 Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.”
53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household.
54 This again is the second sign Jesus did when He had come out of Judea into Galilee.
Simple faith will cause Jesus to operate on your behalf.
Jesus never ask the man to move a mountain.
He wanted him to just believe.
It’s amazing how we are ready to believe when it comes to us needing God to move or else the world is going to collapse around us.
Simple faith is that of Childs play.
Believe like a child.
Take Jesus at His word without reservation.
The miracle was confirmed.
Not just for the man, but for the people he would tell about it.
We are not told that he went and told all of what had happen.
It’s safe to say that a miracle like that would not be contained by the father. Could you contain it?
Conclusion:
This story is to remind us of the power that Jesus has to deliver us in a time of need.
The real question that needs to be ask, “Are we the one that come to see the show, or are we the one that came to be apart of the story of His grace?”
