How many of you here have ever played with Legos?
How many of you enjoy Legos even today?
Hold your hand up if you played with Legos when you were young.
Hold your hand up if you still would play with Legos or even if you still DO play with Legos!
Don’t be afraid to be “Lego proud”!
There are really two main categories that Lego people fall into: Builders and Destroyers.
Builders are made up of three different groups.
The first group takes the time to build something so intricately designed that a space station architect would be proud.
The second group usually builds a creation that is dominated by one special color.
The last group builds something as tall as possible, however possible!

And there are the Destroyers.
This group just does whatever they can to destroy what someone else has created.

But regardless of what group you might be a part of, the builders or the destroyers; you understand the uniqueness of Legos…the connections!
Main Point: Legos are a good reminder of the importance to connect.
Idea #1: Legos were designed to connect.
So do we.
That is what makes Legos so awesome.
When little kids build out of normal blocks they can build something amazing but if it gets bumped, that thing is toast!
Legos though, connect and then they hold on!
Those little dots keep them connected.
Idea #2: Legos only connect intentionally.
So do we.
They don’t connect themselves.
God picks you.
He has chosen you and then planted you.
Idea #3 Legos can be miss connection.
So can we.
The Bible talks about how God connects with us.
He talks about how we can’t do anything without Him.
You know you can do something without God.
People do that all the time but you can’t do anything worthwhile apart from God. Listen to what He says in John 15.
He says that if you stay with Him you will bear much fruit, and not only that, you keep on bearing fruit.
But you must love one another!
He clearly tells us this in that same chapter.
We have a tendency to drift away from God unless we make Him the number one priority in our lives.
How do you think you can make this connection to God stay close?
What are things that you can do to stay connected?
Do you have a connection to a church?
Do you prioritize quiet time before other things?
Do you have an attitude of prayer in your life?
The second part of connection that God tells us is vital is this: connect with others:
We must have good friends.
Iron sharpens iron.
Silk doesn’t sharpen iron.
Sand doesn’t make iron sharper.
It takes something with the same characteristics to rub off the dull parts to make us sharp.
When you are looking for a real friend, you need to be sure that they share the same values and commitments that you have.

Could two pieces of iron sharpen each other if they were kept apart from each other?
No, they must be together, and it is the same way with friends.
You have to spend time together to develop friendship.
When one piece of iron sharpens another, sparks fly and some pretty and loud noises happen, but given time, that iron will become sharp.
The same is true in friendships.
You have to stick with each other and encourage and challenge one another.
Given time, you will sharpen one another.
In order to have good friends, you must first be a good friend.
The number one thing I tell students who are struggling with lack of friends is that they must first work on being a better friend.
Do you listen to others well?
Do you let others talk more than you talk?
Do you actually care about what they are saying or are you just waiting on them to take a breath so you talk?
Good friends genuinely care about each other.
In order to have a good friend you need make sure you are caring for others.
Good friends can bring happiness and fulfillment but they can’t do it alone.
Without a good connection with God, you won’t have lasting happiness and fulfillment at all.
Happiness and fulfillment come from a life that makes a difference.
God designed you to connect with Him and to connect with others.
If we can follow these two simple things then we will live a life that makes a difference to many.
Think about it.
The reason we are left here on Earth after we make that connection with God is so we can connect others with Him.
If we were just here to connect to God then as soon as we found Him, we would be swooped up to heaven.
God leaves us here on Earth to show others the way.
Make sure you are connecting well like Legos!
You are designed to make good connections by God! Connect with God and connect with other believers!
As you leave, we are going to give you a chance to grab a single Lego to remind you that you need to connect with God and connect with others!
