Matthew 1:1 ESV
1 The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

A Messianic Title

It traces back to the prophecies in the OT. Isaiah 11
It promises hope that from a place of nothing, all of God’s promises will come to fruition.
All the Gospels refer to the fact that Jesus was a decedent of David. and it was The Son of David that the people were looking for: Matthew 12:23

A Royal Title

It relates to Jesus’ right to rule and His Triumph.
Used by the angel to address Joseph - He is in the lineage of David - Matthew 1:20
Used by the people at the Triumphal Entry - Matt 21:9-15
Used by the angel in Heaven to reveal that Christ has conquered.

A Title of Restoration

Multiple people referred to this title of Jesus when asking for mercy, healing, and restoration.
The Blind Matthew 9:27 also Blind Bartimaeus - Mark 10:47; Matthew 20:30
Even the Gentiles used it - Matthew 15:22
The Ultimate Restoration is in the Gospel (2 Tim. 2:8) and is fulfilled at His return (Rev 22:16)
