21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).

Prayer

Dearest Lord Jesus, as we prepare to celebrate the season of your birth help us not to forget why it is that you were born. As we seek to give generously to our loved ones let us never forget the generosity of our King. Father, as we look to your Word recorded by Matthew we ask that you would prepare our hearts and minds to receive that which you would give unto us. Help us we pray by your divine helper the Holy Spirit, that by the spirit that penned these words let that same Spirit our hearts to receive them also. It is in your name we pray, Amen.
