HOW TO BE THANKFUL IN
CHALLENGING SITUATIONS
ACTS 16:23-34
PASTOR A. GLEN BASUEL
1. BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT
GOD HAS DONE
ABOUT MIDNIGHT PAUL AND SILAS WERE PRAYING
AND SINGING HYMNS TO GOD, AND THE OTHER
PRISONERS WERE LISTENING TO THEM.
(ACTS 16:25)
2. BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT GOD
IS DOING
DURING THE NIGHT PAUL HAD A VISION OF A MAN
OF MACEDONIA STANDING AND BEGGING HIM,
“COME OVER TO MACEDONIA AND HELP US.”
(ACTS 16:9)
BEING CONFIDENT OF THIS, THAT HE WHO BEGAN A
GOOD WORK IN YOU WILL CARRY IT ON TO
COMPLETION UNTIL THE DAY OF CHRIST JESUS.
(PHILIPPIANS 1:6)
3. BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT GOD
IS GOING TO DO
SUDDENLY THERE WAS SUCH A VIOLENT EARTHQUAKE
THAT THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE PRISON WERE
SHAKEN. AT ONCE ALL THE PRISON DOORS FLEW OPEN,
AND EVERYONE’S CHAINS CAME LOOSE.
(ACTS 16:26)
THEY REPLIED, “BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS, AND
YOU WILL BE SAVED—YOU AND YOUR HOUSEHOLD.” 32
THEN THEY SPOKE THE WORD OF THE LORD TO HIM
AND TO ALL THE OTHERS IN HIS HOUSE. 33 AT THAT
HOUR OF THE NIGHT THE JAILER TOOK THEM AND
WASHED THEIR WOUNDS; THEN IMMEDIATELY HE AND
ALL HIS HOUSEHOLD WERE BAPTIZED. 34 THE JAILER
BROUGHT THEM INTO HIS HOUSE AND SET A MEAL
BEFORE THEM; HE WAS FILLED WITH JOY BECAUSE HE
HAD COME TO BELIEVE IN GOD—HE AND HIS WHOLE
HOUSEHOLD.
(ACTS 16:31-34)
