By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
Introduction:
How many of you this morning sitting under the sound of my voice have walked off a job and quit ?
There are many who want quit a job but stay there and complain day after day.
They are bound by obligations, fear, pressure from family members.
Anybody can quit. As a matter of fact, quitting seems to be the rule of thumb for a lot of people, especially when it comes to marriage and family.
I. The Woman Caught In Adultery Quit Her Job
She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
II. The Woman At The Well Quit Her Job
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
III. Moses Who Was Heir To The Throne To Be Pharoah Quit His Job
By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
There is the story of a young man who applied at a logging company and asked for a job. The foreman asked him if he could fell a tree with an ax. The young man walked over to a tree and felled it like an old pro. The foreman hired him.
On Monday, the young man outdid everyone else on the crew. But, each day after that, he got slower and slower until Friday, he could barely cut one tree down. He went through all the motions; swinging his ax, hitting the tree and repeating it, but it just didn’t work very well.
Finally, the young man laid down his ax, sat on the ground in exhaustion and wondered what was causing this. The foreman came over and told the young man he knew what caused it. He said he had been so busy all week doing the things that a logger does, that he had forgotten to get back to basics and sharpen his ax. It has become dull and is all but worthless today because it had not been kept in good condition.
