Define Lucre---It means “Gain”; Greedy for money is not in the text:

When you limit it to greedy for money you give an insufficient setting. Any dishonest gain is ment in the text.

What was their (Lucre) 1 Samuel 2:12-17

It was acceptable for the priest to live off of their craft: Why?

He had no inheritance in the Land—Dt.10:9

He was to be full time in the ministry

His livelihood was the responsibility of the people.

Bi-vocational is a New Testament concept

Apostles were called by Jesus from their occupation to full time ministry: “Follow me and I will make you fishermen of men” Matt.4:19

Paul chose to work bi-vocational —Acts 18:3

Paul taught that a pastor was worthy of double honor—-1 Tim.5:17-18

The Church should take care of the needs of their pastor. 1 Cor.9:9; 1 Tim.5:18

Pastor’s Job-

Feed the Sheep

Love the Sheep—Jn.21:15-17 “So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.”
